Default Sudha Car Museum, Hyderabad

A visit with my family to Hyderabad came across this unique museum and a man's passion for the replicas and some original cars. Some of the conversion and moving Object de Art were really fabulous. Enjoy the snaps with the little time I had to take pics. Worth a visit for any automobile enthusiast.

Cheers

Good display, definitely entertaining. I have read about some of these creations, did not know that there was this display. Is it open to public? Should be, going by the plackards describing some of the objects.
Very interesting is that there actually some vintage cars and bikes, all is not just fantasy.
There is a panel with a black and white photo of some older vintage tourer, do you have a better picture of that? What was that car?
There is a Fiat Topolino with a Maruti engine, no wonder as the original engines became irrepairable. The axles also seem to be wider, so body was modified.
The white Wolseley is a nice car, look closely at the doors and one can see the resemblence to our Amby, and now check Moralfibres post no 1741 picture no 2 in Nostalgic thread. There are some similarities.
The red Willys is a rare car in India, mechanicals seem modified a bit.
The Rplls with the Fiat engine looks quite proportionate, wonder if the Fiat has the Rolls engine
There is a Villiers engined military parachute bike, seems the tank is missing. Originals were supposed to be made of plastic for easy destruction in case it fell in enemy hands, but a metal one should be fabricated.
Other cars and bikes around are nice, wonder how original the Styer Pinzgauer is.
Nice to see another Austin pedal car, I now know of about 15 pieces in India.
All in all there is quite a lot for us to see and enjoy. Thanks button has also been clicked.

Cheers harit

This chap, should give a lot of our restorers a run for their money, if he ever plans to go in it restoration full time!!

Look at some of the time frames in which he has completed his projects.

Unless, they form a union and keep him out!

Cheers

Those posters appear to be blown up images from Manvendra Barwani's book.

Night_Hawk, This is enroute to Nehru Zoological Park and the area is called as Bahadurpura "The Mecca of Jeeps".

If you are well acquainted with routes in Hyderabad, then this should be fairly easy for you. I hope you know Nampally.
  • Take the road towards Osmangunj, Afzal Gunj.
  • Cross over the Afzal Gunj Nayapul Bridge.
  • Proceed ahead, you will see Madina building on the right side.
  • Turn right from here and proceed straight.
  • You will see AP High Court on your right. This means that you are on the right track.
  • Proceed further on the same road.
  • This road takes a couple of turns, so always stick to the main road as this is the only road you need to take. Keep driving straight.
  • Once you reach Bahadurpura X Roads, look towards your right, you will see the World's Biggest Tricycle parked in the vicinity. That's the place, where you have to go.

Here's the link to their website:

Sudha Cars Museum is the first and only handmade Wacky Car museum in the World.

It is marked clearly on google maps - has to be a well known place at least in its neighbourhood.

I have been in Hyderabad for over 2 yrs, asked the guys here many times on places to see on weekends - and nobody ever mentioned this place !

Vina, I guess you asked the wrong guys then. Bahadurpura is an area in Old City and not many people frequent those areas from the other side of the city like Madhapur/Gachibowli and etc. Bahadurpura in itself is a place to look at, especially the various auto garages, churning out beautifully hand crafted Jeeps

I guess I am in the middle of clueless imbeciles who do not love their own city.

Will go there next month - my parents my parents in law will be visiting and it will be a fun trip.

Glad to be able to see pics. of the entire display, this guy sure is creative! And yes, was all the more glad to see the STANDARD PENNANT (ADX 4610), same colour combo as mine!!
Incidentally, I did hear from someone (2-3 years ago) that Sudhakar had acquired one but had then feared the worst as I'd heard a horror story from a fellow hyd'badi tbhpian about how the guy had brutally chopped a nice Austin 7 'chummy' into two, to hang up the front portion on a wall in some bar or pub at Sec'bad (heard the place was eventually gone)!!

But now, seeing the pics. I'm much relieved this car is all preserved! Looks all-original but for the front parking-lights.

The Wolseley I think was silver earlier- I remember having seen one such car around a couple of times many years ago. It was fitted with Maruti side-indicators on the fenders.

I'm curious about what car's platform the "runabout car" ADU 6370 was based on- the camber of the rear wheels looks uncannily familiar...!

That was indeed very helpful of you to give the route, nikhil! Even I wasnt sure where exactly this place was...I admit having been another 'clueless imbecile' so far (have been to B'pura albeit on very few occasions.)
