Default Gujarat Vintage And Classic Car Club, Ahmedabad (GVCCC)

AS CIRCULATED ON THE 1ST APRIL 2012
Dear Enthusiast,

I wish to inform you that our city, Apnu Amdavad has flourished multifold and earned name and fame. Every other day we hear of Heritage House/Culture/Paintings, etc. but nothing about Vintage and Classic Cars in the premier city of Gujarat and the State which has one the highest number of Royalties in the country. Needless to say the Royals were the foremost patrons fine automobiles. Hence the support and active interest of the Royals is sincerely solicited in giving their invaluable and extensive knowledge of the subject. Luckily, we can boast of the late Shri Pranlal Bhogilal Patel and his magnificent collection preserved in the form of a museum at Kathwada, on the outskirts of the city. He has one of the best collections in the country that has put Amdavad on the World Map. The last Vintage Cars Event was at his place. But since then, many Vintage and Classic Cars of small collectors are lying unmoved under some sheds and rarely come out, due to which the condition of the cars deteriorates faster.

Friends, if there is a Vintage and Classic Car Club in Ahmedabad it will create opportunities for our cars to come out often and thereby give awareness to preserve these great beauties of yesteryear. Today, every one of us is facing difficulty in preserving and maintaining these cars as most of the garages don't entertain and new garages have no knowledge about these cars, which is all the more reason that we need a club, to assist each other. Until now, a few events have been held by WIAA only. Don't you think we should have our very own club when smaller cities like Nagpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur already have their own.

I propose to start a club here "GUJARAT VINTAGE AND CLASSIC CAR CLUB (GVCCC), Ahmedabad. For this I need your unhindered support to establish the Club and run it. Of course, Motor Bikes will also be a part of the GVCCC. I request you all to please support for the same.

To start with we are organising an event on 15th April, 2012 (not an April-fool stunt) the "Vintage/Classic and Old Cars Awareness Drive" where we intend to meet at SAMARTHESHWAR MANDIR GROUNDS at 7.45am and by 8.30am drive in a convoy to Ahmedabad Gymkhana, Shahibaug Cantonment so as to reach there by 9.00am. There we will have sponsored fellowship and breakfast Meet.
Then at 11 A.M, The convoy moves to ASHRAM ROAD and finally, disperse. This is planned keeping in mind that the vehicles are coming out on the road after a long time and keeping the summer heat in mind. There is No Charges, No Competition, Nor any Prizes. This Drive is for Pure Pleasure and meeting and sharing to view our cars only. As soon as the whole programme is finalised, we will inform you, in a couple of days.

Thanking You.
Sincerely,
Subodh Nath

Hello subodh,

Its nice to see something like this taking place here. We must not forget that ahmedabad is not only home to modern exotics but also some timeless classics. A compiled list of participating cars would be nice too.

Really looking forward to see these classics on 15th. Another sunday morning well spent.

Regards,

Read about this on the today's Ahmedabad Mirror! I must tell you, a great initiative indeed. Though I do not own any classics, would be definitely there on the ground to see the flag off and also to take a closer look at the exotics.

It is going to be a perfect Sunday for all those who have a passion for cars.

Any other Bhpians planning to be there for the event, either to participate or to lure over it, please let us know. It would be a great opportunity to meet all of you.

Thanks again to all the organizers for such a wonderful initiative.

Best,
R-Six

Please contact on my numbers or email your vehicle details. It is difficult to take new entries for the drive to Ahmedabad Gymkhana as cantonment areas entry permissions are already done. Still you can cum with your vehicles to Samartheshwar Mahadev law Garden.
Call us for futher details or give us ur email id, so we could send u details on the club membership as well.

Congrats on the formation of a new club.
Hopefully hidden trasures will soon be seen on the Ahmedabad roads
This may be a quite warm time to have a rally, please consider to invite out of station participants the next time. Cars have been taken by road and flatbed to Rajasthan for events, you are roughly halfway, so it should be interesting to get some participation from Mumbai, and possibly other clubs from other cities.
With such initiatives the movement can only grow. Please do inform whenever you are accepting members.

All the best and cheers, harit

Congratulations Subodh! Fantastic initiative.

I hope you have some highway / expressway drives planned (like this one (PICS : Vintage Cars drive to Mahableshwar (24th to 26th Feb 2012))). Gujarat has the absolute BEST highways in the country.

Its a great initiative and needs to be commended by one and all. Such Clubs with regular activities always generate more interest in the older beauties among the owners and the onlookers too.
In many cities older beauties lie grounded and/or in unfit or rotting conditions, sometimes reaching the unserviceable stage. Many beauties are sold out and reach other cities as the owners complain that there are no events in our city, so what is the use of keeping an old car that needs parking space and consumes time, energy and money?
With the establishment of such a Club and the common platform to discuss mutual issues and share information, go out for regular rallies and so on, the vintage and classic movement will be rejuvenated and many happy faces will emerge.
We formed the CIVAA (Central India Vintage Automotive Association) in 2010 at Nagpur, when we found interest in older beauties waning and many exotics that once were a regular sight on our streets and later in the Vintage Rallies as participants, being sold out to owners located in other cities. This has been now partly checked and we meet regularly and share common issues.
Like for instance, most of us agree that our better halves are not able to under any circumstances digest our love sublime and dedication for the old machines. Most of us give all the time in the world for the old beauty/beauties we own.
The question that pops up instantly "Is the old jalopy a "Soutan" or your second wife?"
