Vintage and Classic cars in Belgaum.

Though I have not visited Belgaum, I'm told there are still a fair amount of vintage and classic cars and bikes there, and even events happening. We can see pictures from one event here.

A treat of Vintage cars | All About Belgaum

An often discussed car that was apparently seen in Belgaum was a Porsche 356, possibly ex Sawantwadi, and seen in Gautam Sen's book, GDA registered, but probably shot in Bombay. Belgaum was known to have a large number of VWs.

Belgaum was teh capital of kurundwad junior and they had some nice cars at one time, mu Jag also was theirs and I had posted pics of some of their other cars too.

Would love to see pics of the Porsche in its current condition

On my way back from Goa via Belgaum, I had seen what looked like an Austin in a run down state parked in the driveway of a house. I'll get pictures the next time I pass by.

The armoured car presence is not surprising since Belgaum had one of the biggest cantonments setup by the Brits while they were here.

Great - were you present at the event? Could you share more pictures of the cars that came? (Or others in Belgaum).

Unfortunately I was not in town on that day. My manager had taken 3 of our cars on request of the association there. Will try and get a list of the cars that attended.

Thanks Karl for this treat. My mother is from Belgaum and once upon a time her Nanaji (my great grandfather), Mr. Nayak, used to own a fleet of such beauties. He owned some mines and also used to host Nehru & Gandhiji at his house. But all the gradeur is no more. He used to import them from abroad (UK majorly) through a dealer in Mumbai in those days.

It is from Belgaum, and had just come out of a decade or so of deep sleep. I will try uploading a clip of this machine in motion. pity it arrived to the display tent after the rally around the town was completed.
