Default The 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance - Motor Cars of the Raj

The 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance - Motor Cars of the Raj-pebbel-beach-2018-entry-invitation.jpg

The famed event will be held in a few short months and features "The Motor Cars of the Raj".

The official entry application folder proudly features a lovely car we all know; and a confirmed invitee.

Reposing in the background is "Wankaner"........does that mean something ?

Amir's rolls looks stunning in the picture, almost as if she belongs there.

At the risk of sounding biased, for me at least, this continental is the best and worthy of leading the Indian contingent.

Seven cars from India are going, many more were invited but declined.

Hope to see all the entrants here, wish them all the best for a lovely drive there.

According to published reports, the car was Deep Red with Black Wings when displayed at Olympia in 1929.

Repainted Silver with Maroon leather before dispatch to India, ca 1930.

The above are literally "Snippets" from Google Books.

If anyone can find a copy of the monthly "The Feudatory and Zemindari India" Vol 9, Issue 2, 1930 in one of our great Public Libraries, it would be much appreciated. Believe it was published from Madras.

So, the previous black colour scheme seems to have been pretty authentic.
