Default Bmw R12 1941

Does anyone have or know someone who owns a BMW R12 motorcycle or even if you've seen one some place?

Default Mr.Rashid Modi, Hyderabad

It happend to me 3 years back while I was in Kings Kote, wondering around the old bike market to see any vintage bike available for sale.
Met an mechanic and he introduced to me this great legend called Mr. Rashid Modi.
Nice gentleman, soft spoken, very kind and helping man.......
He took me all around, showed all bikes and finally arrived at his residence in Uppal.
Wowwwwww.....couldn't believe his collections....in the ground floor of his house.......
While going through his bike collection, I saw a small bike lying covered, asked about that and it was 1939 DKW, now it is mine........i bought it.

That SunBeam is S7 1948, I remember, I bought some parts through my brother from Uk.
Not only him, his both son's are bike specialists, and having numerous information. I recently bought TWN Cornett 1954 from them.
I do visit him and call him oftenly to talk about bikes and cars.
I am sure he will help all those who wants to restore their bikes.
Enjoy biking..........

I think you mean that he used to be a sailor, and not a pilot. Not a ship sailor, but used to be a part of the sailing team for India or something. He also has a norton in his collection.

He happens to be my family friend, and if any of you guys are members of Secbad Club, you can find him there almost every night in the bar

He also happens to be the Secy of some Vintage car association in India.

there is lot of confusion here. the guy with 50 odd bikes is actually pilot still flying for Jet. has a fabulous collection of aero models. the sailor you are talking about is associated with the bike association ( Deccha ) in Hyderabad.

I've seen the Jet Airways pilot's bikes. He also had a Katana, a BMW, and a third modern bike. Very nice setup, including a replica Rolls, scaled down, by Sudhacar.

I know only one Jet airways pilot here.....he comes from an aristocratic family & not sure if he lives in Secunderabad, I cant remember his exact address....he owns a rare Herald convertible, a custom-made conversion done prob. by the company itself, originally parsi-owned, although they did restore it once after buying it. Its actually his son who maintains/drives it.
He also owned 2 Heralds in the past.

yeah. the 1955 studebaker champion. The sunbeam S8 has been in the family for more than 35 years now. His dad used to fly with Air India and even now at 85 he still tinkers around with the bikes and cars alone at home. His display of aeromodels hanging from the ceiling is a sight to see.

Rashid Modi's present collection compared to his past is peanuts. His old place at Mettugudda which was called Modis Compund ( Opposite Rail Nilayam ) had a huge college of bikes, but none of them restored. His brother ( Late ) Noushir Modi always had Matchless & Ariels. Infact he was the only guy who owned 3 - Square 4's over a span of time. Both these brothers have travelled all over the country even on girder fork bikes.

Well, a friend of mine whom I asked today clarified that its not the same Jet airways pilot I mentioned.....
Uh, pardon my blatant ignorance guys, but what exactly are aeromodels?? Are they like model aircrafts....

Yes he told me about his old place...although I guess it would've been many years ago as I unfortunately dont recall seeing it there in the last 15 years (I used to pass by mettuguda all the time en route to Secunderabad during outings as a kid...)
