Police chief to lead vintage car fiesta

Mumbai: A fortnight after cheering runners of all ages in the marathon, Mumbaikars can get back on the streets this Sunday to cheer the men and women in their golden machines at the Vintage Car Rally on February 4. The Vintage & Classic Car Club of India’s annual car and motorcycle fiesta will see police commissioner AN Roy being flagged off first at the Hutatma Chowk car park. He will be driving the Chrysler Convertible 1952 (8 cylinders), owned by Nitin Dossa, chairman of VCCCI.
Other attractions include Yohan Poonawalla’s Rolls Royce Phantom 3, a convertible marquee formerly owned by the Maharaja of Kota, two Rolls Royces from Ramesh Thakkar’s collection and Zaheer Vakil’s impeccably preserved Buicks, Jaguars and Rovers. There will be five cars each from Vivek Goenka’s and Dr Vijay Mallaya’s stables. In addition, Mumbai Samachar proprietor Hormusji Cama will also be participating. There is also a possibility of Raj Singh Dungarpur’s 1938 Chevrolet being there.
This year’s rally will travel 60 km to allow suburbanites to see it. The route will take the cars down to Bandra Reclamation, Otters Club to Ramada Inn Palm Grove at Juhu for a stopover and back to Mumbai via Linking Road. TNN

Lovely. Makes the boy racer parked in front look like a piece of plastic. Hope I can see it in the flesh sometime, though I doubt I'll make it for the rally.

Pardon! Please do not insult white lightening. I have a soft spot for that car! Yes, the Impala is a beaut, but I know what I'd rather have in my garage!

But heck, can't beat having them both eh!

There are gonna be tons n tons of bikes also. I might just come down in my 1976 Yezdi which classifies as a Modern Classic. There are going to be lots of british thumpers...some jawa's..some of them over 50 years old....
