I knew of this Amby since ages. Today, I got a chance to see it. At last.

She is a Mark-II. The registration is "MMG", which would correspond to the late seventies, Bombay.

In an isolated corner, yes. As I approached the car, the smell of petrol was evident. Good, atleast it is not dieselised.

The front. Really gotta love how these Mark-IIs looked. Note the cranking hole.

How often does one see the original sunmica dash? Note that the car was used as a garbage heap. Oh well..

Black beauty indeed!

PYS/5775 aka MMU/5324, our ratty-tatty 1972 1100D. Mechanically, she is excellent, starting at half a crank (With an ever-so-slight throttle input, I admit! ). All this, with a watery and sooty exhaust.

On closer observation, turns out that she was originally cream in colour. Then she became a bluish green (The correct word for this is Turquoiseish), then a darkish blue (The 1973 Presidents Natina blue, I daresay? ), before coming to the very light green, that is seafoam green, in the 'Eighties.

Expect a cosmetic overhaul shortly. The question is- Which colour? Turquoise, or the original cream, with black rims? (a la MRY/3112!)

I'm sure many would notice the colonial era residence in the background. The house is question is 44, Civil Lines, Nagpur, my grandfathers residence in the mid 'Eighties.

Now, sadly the house is in a state of disrepair. I'll post pics of the house, and the car soon. Incidentally, the house had a driveway as seen in the pictures.

Would have been one heck of an experience living there, don't you think?

Correctly identified by Mohammed. This is indeed a 1930's Sunbeam Talbot. Was parked in an enclosed garaged for a very long time, which explains the great condition of the car. New owner is a well know vintage enthusiast and this car may come to the next KVCCC rally.

Cheers

They say, "Life begins at 40."

Or so it seems.

Therefore, I present our two year old Delight, err... 42 years old. Ratty-Tatty would be an understatement, honestly.

Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India-wp_20141027_011.jpg

Minimalism at its best, I say! Dante Giacosa's simple lines still remain elegant, even after 52 years of existence. The original 1221cc 1100D was introduced in 1962, for the Italian market.

Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India-wp_20141027_006.jpg

Ratty-Tatty isn't she? One reflector gone, exhaust pipe rusted. Okay, forget the exhaust. It puts out an awesome note, and the rust is because of the fact that the engine is in an excellent state of tune.

Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India-wp_20141027_043.jpg

The minimalist dash. Once upon a time, A/Cs were not common, so....!

Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India-wp_20131227_026.jpg

Chassis 071588 became PYS 5775 on the 10th of November '72. She later became MMU 5324, March '81.

Oh, and what year do we live in? 2013....no 2014. Yes, 2014. Back in 1964, the Fiat 1100 Delight was introduced for the Indian market, replacing the '64 Super Select. The first few ones were CBU's. It has been five decades......

Happy Fiftieth, Fiat 1100 Delight! The car's contribution to the Indian automobile industry, bringing it to what it is today, cannot be undermined.

An example of a '64/65 Delight. Note the grille pattern, similar to the '64 Super Select.

It is either a Singer Nine Roadster or Singer Nine A Series Roadster manufactured between 1946 - 1950. I am sure as I own a 1948 model Singer Nine Roadster. There are some modifications though, like the luggage boot handle and the Singer badge in the boot lid which are not original.
It is definitely not a Sunbeam Talbot

Here are detailed pictures of the rare Hupmobile from Hyderabad. I believe this is a "1935 Hupmobile D "518" Six, 4-door Aerosedan" (I am open to correction).

Was fortunate to spend some time with this car and be able to share these pictures.

Wonderful pictures, when were they taken.

I have seen this car from the time it belonged to the original owner, lying on a street corner in Hyd and then sold to the Capt, then lying outside with his other cars and now finally its been given some love and attention.

This is probably the only one of its kind in India though. Did you notice the leg room in the rear compartment, you had to actually climb in and take a strep forward to reach the back seat !

At the recent Bangalore Vintage Group (BVG) this late 1920's Morris made its entry. The mechanical fix for this car was done recently. Great to see this car back on the road after a few years.

Both the cars have been in long term ownership. The Sunbeam had a ground up restoration and the Morris had its mechanical work done recently, both by Vinay. Sunbeam looks fantastic.

The BVG event has a display of vintage & classic - cycles, scooters, motorcycles and cars. Modified and rodded vehicles are also allowed. There is no judging in this event.
