Initially I stopped for him to take a U turn in front of me and it did not sound as dieselied. Yes it was very well maintainted and the dials looked original too. Could not stop by to take some more interior snaps as I was in a hurry to reach Shimoga.

That's odd, in the U.S. that would be a 1954 Plymouth Savoy. The front hubcap being correct as I can see from the distant picture. A Desoto was a completely different looking car.

I got the same reaction from a friend in the UK when I'd once sent him pics. of a '55 Indian-assembled Desoto! He said it looks like a Plymouth simply badged as a Desoto!

I'm given to understand that the 50s Chrysler models assembled in India were quite different from their home-market (ie. US) counterparts. The Desotos and Dodges we had here were by and large Plymouths with a little different cosmetic treatment and different badgding.

Clicked it 2 years back at Trivandrum with the permission of the owner.
The car was well kept and was in a perfect running condition

Just for the record this is definitely a 63 Impala not a 62...

Wow what a harakiri made of that red Super Beetle.

The white must be a 1974 . good shape.

Looks like both the cars are candidates for being ON SALE.

Some more info., appreciated

Default Red & White Beetle

Pavan - Well , We have approached the owner of the Red beetle , but as usual he does not want to sell.

Agspins - Yes the white car is parked under the Defence Colony Flyover.

'been seeing this Austin Devon A40 in Secunderabad quite often. It used to be parked in another house (most likely the owner's) until it was moved here recently, probably because there was no space anymore with a new Wagon R occupying the driveway!
Car looks nearly complete and seems to be a runner too.
