Awini, is the car for real? I couldn't find out much about it.

liv2drv,

IMHO the car is a 1928 Mercedes Benz type K supercharged, Open tourer, 24/100/180 hp with a 6 cyl, 6.8 liter engine, 98mm x 150mm (bore & stroke).

After the 1926 type K (kurtz for shorter wheel base, 11'2") which had a 6.3 liter engine, came the beautiful & successful S (sports) with 6.8 L engine, twin carb, roots supercharger, followed by the SS (super sports), then the SSK (kurtz) 7.1 liter, the SSKL (Licht or light with drilled chassis to reduce weight)

I had typed out a long mail with a lot more detail which for some odd reason got lost in cyber space when I clicked 'submit reply'.

Vintage cars usually dont excite me, but my jaw dropped on seeing the 680K picture. I just couldnt resist commenting that it is very very beautiful.

actually BMW started much after mercedes-benz, starting with licence built austin sevens, there are at least two prewar bmw,s in india which would have taken this beast for all its worth, on a street circuit in their day.. both are (frazer-nash) BMW 328s one in indore and the other in bangalore.

I remember the Indore Beemer, didnt know we had one more. Any pics of either? Theyre quite stunning machines to look at, Ive always likened them to the XK 120.

News is that the 680 has been sold for 1.75cr to Delhi's big-shot Lawyer cum Collector. His collection was also recently featured on TV, some oh his cars are featured in the "Classic being Restored" thread.

Karl - Did the TV feature have this Merc?

This guy has a garage to die for and he got the MInerva and the Merc from the same previous owner who owned both of them. I had the opportunity to see them both in his farm cum restoration place just in the outskirts of Delhi. you will ifnd his emblem/motif on the doors or all his cars
