Karl, the car has done only 20K Miles. I'm going to be helping him with the restoration. As of today, the body work is being done and the engine has gone for a rebuild.

Tarun Thakral's vast collection of classics was featured this week on NDTV Good Times "All about my car honey". Instantly recognisable was this Pontiac Tempest LeMans who's progress we have been monitoring closely. I was wary at first, but the yellow was looking quite nice on the finished product.

Here's a Karmann Ghia convertible that's just come in for restoration last week. Apparently it's an Ex-Thakkar car that Karl desperately wanted! Sorry Karl!!

Just for that, here is something to tickle you. Who knows, it too might end up in Delhi soon.

I happen to be acquainted with the two gents who brokered the deal, RM (of the Merc 680k!) and SK (of 'Advintage' fame!) and apparently she was sold/bought for 11.5L or thereabouts!! So Karl, you've made some serious money - money saved is money earned, nein?

You have got to be kidding! That is way more than what the international prices would hover at for a car like this one. Sigh. And people ask me why I collect Fiats - its a simple answer, thats all I can afford!

11.5!! isnt that waaay too much for this car?? Also, the condition of the car compared to the price is pathetic to say the least!

Prices, or expectations at least, here have always been higher - maybe because of the availability quotient, and secondly because the market is really not as mature. Just my opinion. On the other side, the Fiats are valued more abroad since they don't have as many as we do!

And it isn't over yet. Expenditure of a few lakhs more on this car is in the offing, especially where she's gone for restoration as I see from the pics. The dealer had told me that she was in 'mint' condition! So I guess now she'll get better than mint!!
