There was a red Austin there, it too was undergoing restoration. Any idea about its progress?!

And what about this one?!
It is a very early 12/4 Austin Sedan. It belongs to one of DKG's uncles.

The engineis original and came with the magneto setup.

This car was a regular at vintage car events in Hyderabad. The color was grey at that time .

this appears to be from around 1932 or so, early 12/4s are more angular and have 6 stud steel artilarry wheels,
a magneto can be fitted to these cars because they had a magneto/coil converter till the arrival of the downdraught carb engine. is there a picture of the dash? what type of switch panel does it have?

Couple of sightings.

There is a metallic sky blue Mercedes 180 (Ponton?), from the fifties, waiting for a full tinker and restore job at the new Mitsubishi and (imported) Toyota dealer at Kalina, Santacruz East, Mumbai. Shocked to see it in a far corner, with old seats, banged up Lancer doors and construction rubble resting against the body out in the open. It was beautiful even in that condition. To me that was the most important car in that yard. Hope the owner finds a more habitable place for it to rust in peace even though it has to be restored.

There is a completely scraped down Morris (I think) on the Sion Kurla LBS stretch, at one of the steel, timber, tiles shops that dot the road. It is just an empty shell on the roadside, towards Kurla. I think it was the same that I had seen at the scrapyard at the end of CST road.

If it's the car I think I know off, it's a RHD 190. Also waiting for a full restoration. But it was quite complete right?

Probably the same one. It's such a beautiful car. Was really shocked by the people who are supposed to restore this. Monsoon is a few days away now, and its lying out in the open, that too in Kalina, where flooding is as common as mangroves in Sunderbans.
If the owner sees it, I'm sure he'll be livid.

At the cool Nicki Garage, Naaz Cinema Compound, not new news for all of you.
Saw a Ponton, two Heralds, an Austin, a red Mustang, many 1990s Mercedes', unidentifyable car with huge tall grill.
Fali & Homi opposite has a silver Datsun being tinkered with.

Actually we had gone to get my first mod, a K&N filter. When we went there, didn't know that Pro Performance and Nicki garage were one and the same, went around the block and came back.
We asked the mechanics and went in excitedly to see the Ponton and one mean looking thing, which is a Tempo Vidal from what I remember.
Anyway there were Heralds, 2 or 3 I think. And we didn't want to click pictures because we could sense his discomfort.

After these pictures were taken the car came on the road for trials, and is being completed.

Cheers harit
Harit, The car is Plymouth Savoy and not Dodge. Subodh

Hi Subodh,
Harit getting a car wrong is next to impossible but sometimes he deliberately drops the wrong names/models to see reactions/arguments.

Raab rakha.

Spotted something at a Garage, while coming back from a field visit.

Took a U turn and inquired about them. Both the Fleetmaster and Beetle have been brought down from Surat to the city. Restoration is in progress...

I should have known better when I corrected Haritji when he first put up pics and mentioned the car as a Dodge Kingsway. I politely corrected and said the car was a Savoy but was confused as to how Haritji got it wrong. And he never replied to the post.

After seeing your post, it's now clear to me that he does indeed 'play' around with us

Thanks for enlightening me
