Default Youngest FCCCI member

Aditya, (son of my friend Gautam -Bolbolero on the forum), is the youngest Fiatian. All of six years old, he attended our meet with his mum in tow, and admired all the cars keenly observing the peculiarities of each model.
I got a call the next day, and heard he can't stop talking about Fiats . His father wanted a discourse on Fiats from 1954 thru 1990, to whet dear Aditya's new found appetite !! I guided him to the "Indian built-assembled classics" thread.

Expect the little fellow to be a regular at our monthly meets. Also, I last heard he's pestering his father to buy a Fiat.

Whoops! Sorry John, I missed out seeing the initial pics. of MHY 2288 when I'd posted my reply to your post! Wow, what a surprise to see yet another Deluxe in India! And that too an absolutely mint one! Flabbergasting indeed!
'wish we had the Deluxe versions available here!

John, I too know not much about the Hyderabad deluxe, except that it was formerly (maybe first, although the regn. is of the late 60s/early 70s) owned by the family of Muffakam Zah, a local Royal family descendant. There is even an engineering college in his name here. On a lighter note, there are engineering colleges to be found in anyone's and everyone's name in Hyd.!

The present owner is a businessman cum used-car dealer. This car has been a regular to the local shows here. It is reasonably complete but nowhere as immaculate as your car or MHY 2288! Here are some pics. taken of it at previous shows:

Note the trim on the rear side fenders is different from the ones on the other deluxes. And the circular badges missing. I wonder if it originally was that way?

Thanks so much for the quick reply.

1. I looked at the photos and see it has left hand drive so it was imported.
2. The backs of the front seat are split as per the Deluxe Model shown in my Owners Instruction Book.
3. The front grill is a two piece, mine is a one piece.
4. It has a front 1/4 window which is shown in the Instruction book along with a gas door.
5. Could be that the deluxe side trim was damaged and they did the best they could.
6. The side light at the front seems to be identical to mine, whereas the side light on the lovely Deluxe in Bombay as I recall is slightly different, however having said that i will take a closer look.
7. The last photo, I had down loaded, has a two piece grill!?
A mystery indeed!.

I was considering having the rear side emblem cast and reproduced. The next thing would be to find some one who could make up the side chrome pieces. Do you think that would be a problem and would anyone want to purchase them?

John

Yes, it certainly was. Sorry, I meant the first owners in India once it reached here. I'm guessing it was in India from the late 60s/early 70s, as the regn. dates from that time. Or it could've been imported even before that and was maybe owned by some foreign consulate, then sold in India and brought down to Hyderabad?

Yes, could be that the existing rear wing (and even front door) side-trim pieces were owner-fitted in lieu of missing pieces.
The sidelight on this car however, looks different (more of a flat profile) form the one on yours, which would be the original one.

Fabricating side-trims is indeed a problem here, especially considering that these are of a more rounded profile and slim. I faced the same challenge when I once intended to get Herald side-trims fabricated.

Roni fabulous pics! I think Rohan has done a good job behind the lens. My commendation to him. The meet was spectacular in terms of energy and activity and lets do many more such meets before the onset of the monsoon.

Lets decide our next mega meet so that people with rarer and much more difficult to maintain cars like the vintages get enough time to put their cars in action.

Cmon Bombay we need more Millecentos (53-56), 500's, 600's 1100R's etc. for our next meet.I can already see that we are going to run out of parking lot for the next one.

John we would love to have you here for future meets. We more 1100's than drivers and we'll be happy to lend you one. Again long live FCCCI.
Some day in the future I am sure we will have a national meet.

OT(?): Those plastic wheelcaps as on this car were the ultimate in making fiats ugly ducklings, made in the last years of the padmini production! Not only did they look appaling, they'd also break like nothing else on our roads!
