Hi Allana,

SAB stands for 'Starline Auto Builders'. Starline Motors, who were dealers for PAL cars, started this outfit to build bodies - chiefly station wagons - on the Padmini chassis.
SAB-25, a long wheelbase hatch with an 'aerodynamic' front, featuring 118NE type headlights was their last model.

I guess we were the lucky ones then. We owned 2 at one point of time. A red and a blue Premier Safari. Sadly no pics, these were more than 20 years ago.

Actually they started out by building mostly bus bodies, which they still do in Belgaum.

Cheers harit

And yes! She does have a lot of things that could be salvaged besides the "below average" body shell, if anyone wants to work on a classic restoration project.

Hoping that it has gone to caring hands.
I have seen this car in Bandra last week. I had a doubt whether it was the same one initially but now thats confirmed. Its parked in the lane opposite Soul fry at Pali Market. Bandra. Its really nice to see this one survive the scrappers

Default Pune regd. Fiat Select in a garage in Dadar.

Spotted this Fiat Select in a local garage in Dadar. It has got 3 clip-type wheels & one Padmini wheel. Has got FIAT engraved in one of its wheel's nut cover.

FCCCI Mumbai - wake up !!

The monsoons have finally bid adieu, and it's time to get our beauties out again. Brush off the dust, prime the carb. Spit-n-polish the chrome, and hit the road ! It's been a long time since we've met - even Tangy's must be missing us

Let's meet on the first Sunday of November. Time enough to get the 1100s up and running. Or can someone propose a date ? Venue - Five gardens, naturally !

P.S. Hrishikesh -that's a nice find !!

Mr. Bean, we are all dying to start rocking and rolling with our babes for the coming winters.

And, as usual our big hearted FCCCI members Mr. Sameer Kadam and Mr. Anil Jain, have asked for free dates to invite FCCCI members and family at their individual venues in October/November and December, respectively.

First Sunday, 6th November 2011 Ko Lock Kiya Jaye for the 1st invitation at Sameers new outlet at Carter Road, Bandra adjoining CCD, which can be proposed to him, followed by 11th December 2011 which can be tentatively locked, for a drive, lunch and day spend at Bhiwandi, pending confirmation.

Above dates can be confirmed if everyone is Ok with them.

We are in the process of co-ordinating the same to make the BESHT of the FIATing season 2011-12.

So, stay tuned.

Posting a few images of Fiat Classic Car Club's recent get-together and a short drive:

It is indeed nice to see even fifteen year old Premier Padminis being refreshed (not restored) to "better than new" condition.

My friend Sandeep's freshly restored Fiat was part of the rally and garnered a lot of attention. Sandeep's fried has also followed Ravi and Sandeep's footsteps by painting his Padmini in the white-blue combination.

Lovely pics. The weather seems to be very fine for such a get-together. Lovely line up of Fiats.
Love that Padmini in Blue/White color combo.
Some more info on each car would be a welcome.

Raab Rakha.

The blue-white Padmini is a 1988 petrol model and was recently refreshed.
