Some confusion here- when we say 'rebuilt' it could mean restored ground-up, with everything except the bodyshell being procured, including a panel or two, or doors/bonnet/bootlid etc. That wouldnt necessarily involve changing the entire bodyshell, in which case the whole car being replaced with another one (like if a '66 fiat has its body replaced with that of say, a 20-year newer model, for whatever reasons)
So did your car have the original bodyshell it came with, right until it's last day?
What about the engine?

^^
IIRC, the whole body was changed around 1991
Engine too was replaced atleast 3 times during my lifetime. Car was already 12 years old when i was born, so I don't know much of that history

I missed attending, but what a lovely display I can see. I just passed on the details of many of the members who had cars to display in Bombay. For a Delight you were ofcourse the first name that comes to mind

How come Fiat participation is mentioned only after the event?

And spend the rest of your life keeping it running. Please remember, it would have been a taxi with lots of "Juggad" repairs.

Cheers harit

I don't suppose we would even be allowed to run it on public roads even if we did buy one for posterity. I hope I can get a permanent place to keep one, I'm definitely buying one for keeps. And it has to be a rough jugaad one, else it wouldn't be a Mumbai kaali-peeli

Spotted this runabout yesterday

The Fiat display looks good. Thats the way cars should be arranged to give the public a chance to see these beauties yet keeping the cars safe from damage . There are some vintage fiats also in town. They should also get more involved with the Fiat club. Maybe Rony can get them enthused to participate?

He he, that runabout belongs to my aunt, and is parked at her place at Pali hill. Quite a daily runner, and surprisingly well-kept and tidy.
Recently helped her get new (blackwall) tyres, am trying to convince auntie to buy whitewall inserts..
Trying to convince auntie to give her car to more deserving people like me, and to get a Nano for herself.

Ah, then you also got her to paint the wheels silver from the earlier black? Poor Cyrus

Poor Rony religously informs you (with at least 2 vintage Fiats) about every event but you never come

While the purpose of the club is primarily to celebrate the 1100, all are of course welcome.

You are correct Karl. Two reasons why I do not join in on Sunday mornings. Sunday is strictly reserved for family, and the fact that both my Fiats are non runners. This year, hopefully the dickyseater should come home, and work on the big girl will start. The big girl is a beauty, hopefully will be able to drive her before the year end.Iactually meant people like Peter Travasso, Harit, Solanki etc

Looking forward to seeing both of them back in action.

Actually Peter uncle was sporting enough to drive to Pune in his Fiat in the pouring rains for one of our earlier events. The car is presently in hibernation, but still a delight to see. Harit too had joined us in his Fiat tourer once. What vintage Fiat does Solanki have? They join us often in their 1100 Special.

Yes, this was once my car and sneaked away by the previous owner when he got a higher price, after sale and after receiving payments ahead of schedule. Yes, I was in college and bought it in installments.
The car barely ran when I got her, and then completely stopped working. Solanki got her about 2 years ago, still not working and very much deteriorated. Then he got her to work!
Its a rather short car, but a 7-seater, with partition, but not a Landaulette. The drivers position is very cramped, I am sure that I would not be able to fit in today
Here is a picture taken in 1979.
