I did think it was a cute car and gives a retro feel to some extent on seeing the pic. first.....but eventually on reading the price tag, I got totally put off!
I bet even a Siena weekend would come lower than that (although not familiar with current exact on-road prices, I rarely gather all such data on new cars you see!

IS - I really, really like the car but the wheels are too big for it man! It looks like it's on stilts! And why would you want to put on fake Merc rims on a Fiat??

Welcome aboard.

You own a very historically significant Fiat there. It appears to be the same car, MRX 4326, used in the memorable race sequence in the classic blockbuster "Waqt" starring Sunill Dutt and Rajkumar.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/298456-post554.html

So what is the history of your particular car? Do fill in some details on the changes you have made as well.

I also notice she has been converted to an RHD configuration.

Cheers
Karl

Hi Immy,

Welcome to the "FCCCI - Mumbai", and "Team-BHP" as well.

The Fiat Classic Car Club of India - Mumbai, completed 1 year on 12th August '08 and we have a lot of FIAT enthusiasts with varied interests here. We normally meet on the first Sunday of every month on a mutually pre-decided venue and also organise mini-rallies within mumbai limits in the non-monsoon period.

Our next meet is scheduled for Sunday, 14th Sept '08 at Dadar, Five gardens.
We will be glad to have you with us. In the meantime do post pics of your restored beauty, which is going to be a rare one of its kind in our club.

Do take the time to go through this very informative and exciting thread to enlighten yourself about the club activities so far.

All the BEST and have a FIATFUL day.

Hi immy, welcome to the forum, and hope you have a wonderfull Ride through.
i was wondering did you buy this car from Bombay itself. if yes then was this white before your working on it. i had seen a similar car and hence i asked.
i see you are going all out to make it a fun ride with a zing to it.
Have you changed the centre caps of the rims as the picture shows mercedes ones and yours is a fiat, so would look odd.
what engine have you fitted her with? Thank you.

Ishaan the car is on stilts (Jacks). see the front you can see part of the jacks and the front left tyre is also not on. Yes the rim design looks good but the centre cap needs to be changed.

Default merc hubs

Thanks for having me aboard guys

Its going to be one hell of a ride with FCCCI and Team BHP

Details of my ride.

these are orignal merc rims raghava, hence the hubs, the car is on a jack in that pic

the pics are old and the hubs are out now.

she was first seen in a foriegn film called "Buona Sera Mrs Campbell" in 1968 Starring - Gina Lollobrigida

then was got to India by an italian guy

bought by my father in law some 30 years back,

seen a lot of races, until the engine blew up,

she was red, white, green, and then red again

not sure about waqt but ISHQ, some akshay khanna movie, some Ads etc etc

was in a bad state when i picked her up, with a padmini engine, shabby paint job,3" wheel spacers gave a very shaky ride, i had a brake fail once, thats when i decided to overhaul her.

Updates.

Gypsy King engine
Mercedes Brakes
Opel Power steering unit
Air-conditioning
Electric Seat
17" Merc Alloys ( had to compromise with the design as the other ones available in the market were too broad)
Custom interiors made of chequered aluminium sheet with backlit meters and race ignition switch
etc

looking forward to seeing all you guys on the 14th, just hoping that the car is done by then

Thanks again

Immy

ishaan the last picture is what i am talking about, it is on jacks and confirmed by immy too. the rear does look more raised than normal.

@ immy thats some great stuff you got in the car. do let us know how she rides and handles after all this work is done. the car would be very practical and fun to drive.

@ Cyrus. papa ne puchje dikra (ask your father).

Speedy - The rear tyres in that picture are in contact with the ground & the jack only seems to be on the front right wheel & the front left is on a stand.

ya the rear is a little higher, thats to avoid tyre scraping issues when people are sitting in the rear

before you ask, 3 normal size people can sit on the trunk with their feet on the rear seat

5 friends drove down to lonavala and back once with the padmini engine

Cyrus, make sure its a KING, the few extra bucks are totally worth it

Had a few trial rounds, performed pretty well, waiting for a long drive

Cheers

Interesting to note. Two things - One is the regn (dating to 1962) matches the car from Waqt. Waqt was launched in 1965, 3 years before this other movie you speak of.

Secondly, I recall a black Spyder with a Gypsy engine and spaced wheels from Pune. It had a later KA regn. Any connection there?
