Maybe you need to check your monitor resolution! :P

I know a colour which used to come on Fiats. I think it was called "Refrigerator White". If one had seen the earlier fridges (Godrej, Alwyn and the lot) they mostly came in an odd white shade with a greenish tinge. It was not green but it was also not white. I think this is that shade. Dont know i fit was called Refrigerator White or it was just a nick name given to a particular shade of white.

I think Ive seen the same shade of colour before, 'cant recall seeing on fridges but on many Vijai Super scooters, such as this one, appears to be in its original paint:

Yes, that is Karl's color....Karl's car's color.

Anyways, getting back to the topic of the rally, Gogi, have you seen those two maps yet?

Dear Karl - I have never heard of Grandpra green - although PAL had some really funny names of their colours on the Premier Padmini, some of which are:

1 - Arctic White (offwhitish, very popular in PP Deluxe)
2 - Sabbia (creamish, came on the PP Economy with body coloured bumpers in 1986)
3 - Ellora (light greenish blue, came on the PP Economy)
3 - Pale Lilac (very very white, came on the PP Economy and Standard, the colour of the new bodyshell of my rally car MMY43 which I bought in 1987 for Rs21000 with trim and bumpers). PP Economy was launched only with these 3 colours
4 - Azzuro (the blue of BLB1144 came on the Deluxe BE)
5 - Somma (bluer than Azzuro came on the DEluxe BE)
6 - Eattu (brown, like the original Marutis came on the standard car)
7 - Verde (green, not light, not dark, very confusing)
8 - Tartar Red (red, not as bright as BLL4919, but close, exclusively for Mr.Vakil's car MMD3232 in 1976 with the very rare and famous cromodora grille)
9 - Pearl Ash (the original grey of the Premier President)
10 - Sahara Dust (light pink, we had a 1978 model car MMF3433 in this colour, we painted it white in 1981)

The best part about the colours was that cars were painted and parked in front of the main building on a Saturday afternoon when the top management would come and look at them on their way home (office was half working day on Saturday). I happened to see some of these proceedings. The boss would nod his head and everybody would immediately agree as to what a beautiful colour this one was. It was very amusing, to say the least.

Also as regards the scanned copy of the RC book, when will RTO staff get good handwriting? I guess never.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Yes, thats the colour of My Car . chewed the painters head when i was getting the overcoat done.
'Saab, yeh artic white hi hain'

A green & metallic maroon colour too was added, during 1995 when S1 was launched. Guess they launched in that colour as both 800 & Omni too were available in that colour. PAL went ahead to even provide green tinted glasses with green cars.
Thank god my car didnt come with one.

*Ahem* actually thats a name apna GOGI kinng- I mean Singh- came up with first! I read one of his posts in his 1100 resto thread where he'd joked that he'd paint the car "RAni pink" with an orange roof!

And both my Heralds' (including copy of the first one I had) RCs- also in my '62 mk1's, the name herald is actually given this way: ("Erald")- did they make "h" silent for all words starting with it?? Anyways, fortunately or unfortunately here in AP maybe the handwriting issue is the reason we're getting card-type RCs replacing books!
OK, 'nuff digressing I guess!

You are correct Gogi, I missed my favourite - Panama Ivory - a beautiful creamish yellow that I wanted to paint on MRY3112 but could not get so I settled for the Bahama Biege of the Wagon-R. Another colour was the Fawn Biege, an orangish colour. I had made a car in 1979 with this colour with a black top, was looking good.

Best regards,
