Fellas, We have decided to hold a drive to Lonavala on the 1st of march. It is the First Sundat of MArch. We shall be going a little further from lonavala, namely kanshet. We had been there last year during the monsoons and it was brilliant fun. But, Last time, we could not take our Fiats along. This time though, We shall all b r taking our beloved babbies with us.
Please confirm your list ASAP!!

I was wondering why is it that the old Fiats with suicide doors are refered to as "dukkar". Can you guys please shed some light on this.
Though I lived all my early life in Inida and having a single owner 1964 Fiat 1100 ( still with us ) in Hyderabad I have never heard this expression before.
Also used to have a 1971 Italian Fiat 850 sports fastback coupe. This was a gem of a car with a small 903 CC rear mounted four cylinder engine. It had a dual choke weber carb and factory fitted headers.
One hell of a good loking car and with excellent handling and good performance. It had the looks of a Ferrari shrunk in size.
Are there any of these neat cars still active in Inida.
Attached are pictures of a 850 just like mine.

Wow, That 850 is a beautifull looking car indeed.
Coming back to your query, The Millicento and the Elegant were called "dukkar". Probably as they had those coupe round backs and thus resembled a pig's bottom!! That is the best explanation i can think of.

There are a couple of similar 850s in the south, featured elsewhere on the forum.
