Hey Thanks Stanher, r_nairtvm and SuperSelect.

Look here what I found on Wiki regarding the design of Fiat 500 Topolino

The radiator was located behind the engine which made possible a lowered wind-cheating nose profile at a time when competitor vehicles confronted the world with flat near vertical front grills. The shape of the car's front gave it exceptional forward visibility

Fiat 500 "Topolino" - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thanks,
Pradip.

The engine seems to be original in this one. 'wonder what happened to the front windscreen though. And strangely it still doesn't have a number!

It sure does have a lot of non-original fittings, but can be restored to full originality IMHO. But the price plays a big barrier here!
Hey that's a Bajaj Auto rear lights up there and in centre a light from the TVS 50.

Well, it does look good no doubt....but def. not too pristine/untouched for that price. 'has quite a few non-original bits added- interestingly place side-indicators on the rear wings btw! Quite a novelty; the original tear-drop ones placed there would've looked all the more fab.

I expect it to have padmini rims too..

Oh yeah I too noticed all that non original stuff but other wise the body line is too good to resist.

John,
There is a 1949 Mochet Velocar for sale in Chennai. Its been fully restored and runs like a dream. I've already put up a picture in the classified in the forum. Check it out and let me knwo if there are any takers. Apparently there are only 3 in existence in the world.

Here is the picture. Apparently a "cell" snap, not very clear. Are you sure that there are only 3 examples in the world? Have masked the surrounding for their privacy.
Apparently this car came from Pondy, was found thrown is a rubbish heap and rescued.

Cheers harit

An article on a 1949 Mochet Velocar can be found here, and in all probability the same chennai car, because IF there are only three surviving, the chances of two being in Chennai is very unlikely.
