Machdar well it is ok basically a 3 liter block which has been detuned for economy if that means anything in a W140 but for you I was refering to the 170 the main car in the pic.

I think the 170/fintails/pontons/pagoda's etc is the vintage you may consider w140 is in a different category all together modern classics. What I am getting at is these are 2 very different categories and how you want to use them which is important

Ask your self what you really want.

I agree Canonball,

Two very different breeds! I started the hunt for a vintage like the 170/ponton/pagoda etc but the 140 just landed on my lap uninvited. And a 140 is a 140 right? The vintage will be used sparingly while the 140 can be a regular office car?

There is a separate thread for valuation.

Dear Spitfire mate,

The answer to your 1st question……. The way one values a vintage car, is based on the age, the condition, what the market trend is for a car of such age & condition is and lastly what one is willing to pay for it.

I am sure you know the above but I thought I will re-iterate it since you asked the question.

Yes you are correct; it is the sellers call and not mine,
FYI I wasn’t stopping anyone paying the 800k... nor was I valuing the car, nor was I suggesting a price for the car. I was purely expressing my view
If I am correct that is still allowed right???

With regards to if I have the money or not, I guess I would like to keep that info to myself buddy. Don’t think the title of this discussion is “Post only if you have the money”

This is a Forum (as per my understanding) one can post as long as offensive material is not posted…... unless stated otherwise.

With regards to the miseries, can you also look in your crystal ball & let me know what else awaits me ..

</sarcasm>

Cheers

I don't see why not? When a price is quoted anyone has a right to mention their opinion as long as we maintain decorum etc and I can't see the logic in anyone trying to stop anyone from stating their opinion. I don't think one can gag this kind of stuff!! As long as you state what you want and don't bother to get tangled with any instigation keep clear say your piece move on

allana spitfire was being sarcastic/revese humor not taking a dig at you read some of the earlier pages onwards you will get it cheers

Ajay there is a difference between Criticism and Opinion.

I was expressing my opinion. If some one did not like it tough.....
I have a right to express my opinion. That's why we have a forum. Where people can discuss & express their opinion.

Can i please ask who decides the rules of this forum. There was a discussion no criticism

canonball buddy i realised it was sarcastic humor hence wrote the line no offence. Hope none is taken spitfire

Thanks for the lovely pics Perak.

These are the type of cars which should get quick buyers, assuming they are in great shape on the inside (under bonnet and incab). One really would not and should not mind to pay a few extra rupees for the top condition. Of course that does not stop anyone from asking ridiculous prices but thats not for us to debate as the price is a seller's prerogative. If i was in the market for a good looking Chevy Fleetmaster, this is the type of car i would be leaning towards. OF course all prices are negotiable and most of the prices put by passionate people are further negotiable for passionate buyers, not always but many a time. If someone does not want to invest 100s of hours besides money and wants a ready to drive classic, this is the way to go.

Agree with you V16 on this whole heartedly

I hope some real enthusiast picks up these cars instead of a speculator. They indeed seem to be good cars owned by a passionate car guy as I followed his pics on the lucknow show thread
