Be extremely careful if anyone is planning to buy....the car is a complete mix of all parts. Nothing original (including the RC book) and comes with a huge liability.

Good call 67bug good to see some clean transparent feedback and info share on car's & their anticidents now we can proudly call ourselves a community much like the international forums. I hope more people talk about backgrounds of cars so at least potential buyers know what they are getting into.

Is it safe to do so?

Thank god we are an online community and not offline is all I can say. What 67bug has posted is exactly how things are done & stated on other international and much much older web forums/commuities. The words and language are dito.

Cannon, even in this forum things are done in this very way. We have been seeing such feedback and advice all the time. Why would you think someone would want to conceal it unless there is an ulterior motive. IMHO this is one of the best vehicle related forums. BTW what is an offline community?

This is a thread where classics for sale are offered. In the past also, when one has had a CONFIRMED knowledge about any car it was openly mentioned here.

I dont understand the skepticism in this. If one has information, good or bad, by all means it should be and was being shared. Point noted but lets not hammer it in, time and again and again. Makes it seem like one is not happy with the way this forum is going on.

What is the point of making it sound as if everyone is concealing something? If one has knowledge of any concealment with an ulterior motive, it should be (and is being) bought on board. Ultimately the principal of "Caveat Emptor" (Buyer Beware) prevails. Inspect, take your time, investigate and then buy, else you have only yourself to blame.

I request all of you to stop drilling a single point, it makes the whole scenario very pessimistic. Please take this post in the right spirit, it is not directed at any single person or group.

@ Spitfire- Why would you think it is unsafe? Unless of course one shoots off something without proof. Then it becomes unsafe for the person making the allegation

Well good to see your point but some still harp about doing things via PM's to the extent of making school playground like jokes/mocking perhaps you could council them I recall you to had talked about not using PM's.

Anyway I have the courage to say "I take your point" but still thought the commending 67bug part to be relevant

Rightly said, 1 month ago, i had got a few pics of this car from the owner.

Not a single panel of this car looks as if it belonged there.

Lots of tall claims by the owner Mr Rajinder Singh.

Agreed its painstakingly restored, but not worth 6 lacs.

Thanks bro.

I am all for open discussion and revealing everything. Thats the spirit. If one wants to be secretive, well best of luck to them then, what else can we say?

Nikhil, you and me cant change certain quirks of some people, we should let them be. If they choose to operate in a certain way i think we should respect that choice.

What good is information if it cannot be shared but if someone wants to be secretive about something, as long as it is not with a dubious motive and as long as its not against the rules of the forum, so be it.

I agree that comments like what Sid has made are and are welcome.

Unfortunately Pavan, a lot of persons will ask for the sky but then its their car and its their choice. Like you i find many prices unreal, guess we cant change that.

Guys lets not get into the nitty gritty and try to change others, just carry on the good work you have been doing and let the information flow....!! Now any other classic for sale??

I love the colour on this bug!

Gogi, I personally find the '58 bug a very good example!! Now why?
Well we have a modern DC, who modifies the total look of a car, we have brabus and AMG doing it for Mercs, We have westfalia variants for the VW Microbus, so why not a RS variant '58 ragtop bug for someone who wants something different?? It will be one of a Type!!
Yes its nowhere in the trophies class, but its a different classic painstakingly refurbished.
RR made cars to individual requirments. The exclusive still do it, and we sit here and coment. I would buy this example if it were priced at say 3.50 lacs.
Lets get/have comments now from the forum members.
My Biscayne has 6 Lights at the rear!! and I am not putting her into Concours nomination!!

I am more concerned about the RC book which makes the car very questionable and NOT worth looking at. In fact from a legal stand point she is not salable/transferable so a complete junk, at best a show piece in one's living room ! And before anyone has a counter I think it is too much bother to get current valid papers of a similar car and switch all the markings etc

I understand that i am not going off-topic here, since any of the classics available mentioned here would somehow get into any T-BHP'ians hand, he must understand why we are talking prices and documentation.

Off-late the RTO / RTA regulations have become such that, any classic or a Vintage if purchased from a different state or any of such cars goes for document update after being invalid during restoration has to furnish the Sale Invoice of the car to get transferred and registered.

We here at Bangalore are finding it lot more difficult in registering such cars, Just wondering, how can a 40-50 + old car have such documents with it?

In my case, i am finding it real tough to get my Bus registered in my name, as these guys are asking for Invoice,

The best i need to do is, update the document in the ex-owners name and drive on.

You can never get another document these days. Almost Impossible.

Someone mentioned Heritage Club of India/VCCI supporting members with documentation which is suppose to be accepted by RTO's in case of lack of invoice etc. Have you spoken to the your local chapter pawan? I have been thinking about putting a another thread for vintage/classic documentation car you know what I will just put one now so people can help each other

This was bound to happen sooner or later, considering the malpraxis and "" RC book FOISTING" which was being done rampantly especially in some southern states, anyway the Karnataka MVD has done a good thing if they have really made strict the rules regarding registration of out of state classic and vintage vehicles.Hope they somehow curb the illegal practice of unauthorised "etching"" of engine numbers in the name of restoration.
as some one else mentioned some time back ,in kerala there was move not to give NOC to cars which are part of kerala heritage(eg:royal cars, dewan cars, etc)
