In case anyone's interested:

Standard Herald 1971 For Sale - Pune: Cars in Pune at Quikr Pune

'not intending to open a can of worms with the 'p' word, but on a lighter note, I guess the main reason for the price would be the bonnet 'moustache' taken from a '56 Plymouth/Dodge...so that's understandable!

Also front grille looks like its from a Premier President!

Car's very original otherwise. It even has the original 'dimpled' hubcaps that cam on the mk3 Heralds (and thereafter Gazels) unlike many others I've seen.

By the snaps it looks to be a Gazel not Herald. May be the masters of Standards - Karl & Shyam can tell us more in details.

wartikars its definitely a Mk3 herald on whose design the Gazel was based. The last batch of heralds got this type of hood. More info can be obtained from our standard gurus.

I thought the Gazel was confused with the 4-door Herald and vice-versa only in the UK!

Sir, THIS is a Gazel, the later versions having a 'fixed' bonnet as well:

Standard Gazel MkI pictures from classic cars photos on webshots

Standard Gazel mk2 pictures from classic cars photos on webshots

Gazel mk1 rear view pictures from classic cars photos on webshots

The most obvious way to identify is from the plain ugly rear end!

Shyam bhai do correct me if i am wrong, but i think that the Gazels shared some parts with the fiats/PP, more of the cosmetic ones.

Yes, the later ones certainly did. But again, I could see very few viz. the door handles (outer), boot handle and side-indicators.

The much awaited Blue Standard Gazel in Shantinagar,Hyderabad has come up for sale finally.I have been seeing this car for the last 10 years and the owner has finally decided to part with it.
Its a total original car and done some 17k on the speedometer. It has original paint from the company.
The owner is quoting 1.5 lakhs(negotiable) !!!!

Not a bad car indeed seems to have most stuff on it, including the super rare air filter. Price seems fair. Cant tell if the meters are Elegant or later models though.

True the car looks quite intact. The works that have to be carried out are all clear in appearance.
The Kolkata series WBJ is from 1970-71 or so. Hence the original number may be different. The dash of the featured car pretty original.
This one below is a 1957-58 Elegant dash with the horn button and a few bits and pieces not original here. The MPH calibrated speedo is however original.
