This Standard Gazel is up for sale. Its engine is in running condition but as can be seen, the car needs a lot of work to be done. It is otherwise very original. Any one interested can pm me and I shall provide the owner's contact number. The car is Nagpur (Mah) registered.

Anyone knows this car??

Raab Rakha.
The car has to be a pre-1965 model. The 1100 D was being produced in 1967.
This car is not even a Super Select (doubtful ?) as there are no quarter glasses on the front windows, the SS was known for.
The speedo and dash appear to have been tampered with.
There are two Fiat logos in front, one on the bonnet and the other on the grille.Selects modified with the SS grille show such faux paus.
The chrome strip on the side is single level, the SS's were famous for. The Select (if this is one) had a two level chrome strip with a step on the front fenders.
The asking price for such a car with a dubious credential is too high! I feel sorry for novices who may be misled into buying it!

Well it would qualify as one (when Premier Presidents of the same age do) but for the fact that it didnt click even when new. Its only saving grace for someone to want to buy one is it's relatively less-known historical importance of being the first car designed by an Indian.

Sure V-16 and Shyam, this will qualify as a later Indian Classic (pre- 1975) by all means.

Hello to all the classic Guru's,

I am planning to buy this Mercedes Benz 350 SLC (1987) model. Need your advice on what should I look for in the car (to asses its condition)?

The car is in Bangkok (my current city). Price quoted is THB 400,000 (approx. INR 550,000). I still haven't met the owner to inspect the car, but will be doing so in the coming weekend.

Thanks a lot in advance...Cheers!!

Hi, that will be a nice car. Hopefully later you will bring this car to India?
I would suggest that you take the car to a dealer and ask him to plug it in the diagnostic. You will get to know the condition.

Cheers harit

Hi

If I am not mistaken you cannot plug the vehicle diagnostic equipment to a car of this age. That was made available I think in the late 90ís

LOL......no OBD II port on cars from pre 96 so its better to get a proper authorised MB service center to asses the car for you.

Harit, Allan, Wasif..

Thanks for the advice guys. I believe these cars cannot be tested with diagnostics, but will try to take it to a Merc dealer close to my house. Let's see what they gotta say about it.

What about the price? Is it justified enough for this model?

Hopefully everything goes well, and i can take her for a spin!!

P.S. : I will definately get it to India once I decide to settle down there

Check out the import duty as I think it will be more than the actual price of the car.

The car looks in very good condition and for 550k (INR) looks like a bargain.

Mercs are prone to rust so check that out.

Let us know how you got on. Good luck
