Just open any MAP RC book, you will see first registration will be Bombay.
Are you really sure on this? I've heard countless times, that MAF is a genuine Bombay regn, and MAP perhaps for Pune. Though a fair few "MAF"s do exist in Pune, I've heard that these were Bombay cars. I must get to the depth of this. Think of it, I've seen too many MAF cars here. MAF/350 is you know what, MAF/2187 is an SS80, MAF/374 is an SS80 and yes, a coupla Premiers as well. But, I still feel MAF is Bombay. I've heard and assumed it only too many times.

Fair few LHD cars were imported back in the day, and they were registered. Of course, under the current rules, it is not possible to import an LHD car, and register it here.

But, this W123 can be reregistered. I've seen an LHD W124 here, that was reregistered. Of course, the process can be a bit tedious, but it has been done.

Are you sure it can be done legally? Since this was never registered in India till now, I'm not sure if it would be treated as an import before the "no LHD imports" rule came into force. Since this car was supposedly driven to India, this was probably never marked in a port of entry of the customs till now and it might be difficult to prove that it came to India before the LHD import ban. Was the LHD W124 that you mentioned registered after the ban on LHD came into force?

The non-straightforward way is probably there, where you get a scrap W123 with valid papers and practically donate all the parts of this car to that one.

Yes, that is the major thing. This W124 was registered before the ban came into force. But hey, the W123 in question might be having European plates on, but it might just have been registered in India.

If one has the guts to drive all the way from Europe, surely registering ones car is a piece of cake!

Refer below post. The car is not registered in India till now. That's why I said it can only be a donor car now

A mint condition Fiat President is available in Varanasi. It has low mileage and the second owner just acquired it. PM me if anybody is interested and I can provide more details.

Condition of this car reminds of the heralds used by lottery ticket sellers in my hometown during my childhood days, with a loud speaker on top. These used to be costing around 5k or so, if I recall correctly.

Off topic, But are u from calciut by any chance? I remember seeing the most number of heralds used as lottery cars here. One by one all of them disappeared, to be replaced by fiat 1100s, and later wiped out by electronic lotteries!

One of the last 'lottery' heralds used to be parked on the left side, when coming from the railway station, just before the mananchira bus stop.

There used to be am ash grey mk1, a grey / blue mk2 and a light green mk1 during the last days. Those gave way to a 1100D with a nice retro carrier on the roof, and plastic blinds on the rear window.

A Lil further ahead, somewhere near Christian college used to lie a mk3 4 door herald....

I could go on and on, but it would be going way off topic here.

Spot on

A lot of Heralds died there I guess, which in current days would have been picked up for restoration or at least posted in this thread
