Looks nice, never even knew about this particular model of Fiat. Thanks Cyrus for increasing my knowledge. So, was this a 600 CC engine? Was this an import or was it manufactured in India itself? Which year would this be?

Karl was the 500/600 ever made in India? I read that Premier assembled it in India before the 1100 came in.

The 500C was assembled at Premiers Kurla facility in 1950 for a short while. Attatched is a page from the August 1997 issue of Auto India, commemorating 50 years of India's independance. The assembly line is visible in the pic. I doubt the 600 was assembled here, but quite a few came in, so I assume they were officially sold here.

There used to be this 600 taking pride of place at the Kurla facility till they shut shop. It was even submerged in the floods. Im told the car is now in storage at Ranjangoan. Behram can tell you the history of the car.

Karl, are the tail lights of the said-to-be-rotting-not-for-sale Fiat 600 original? They surely will fit on the '57 dukkar.

the kurla facilty is gone.. they only have a older generaton palio hatchback and an old tata fire engine lying there now.. that palio is not the indian version because its front is like the first genetation siena. it used to be used as a security vehicle but now its mostly rotting..

tata used that facility last for painiting indica bodies. but thats also shut now and the land is sold to some builder and a mall is coming up there .

The ones fitted are indeed of the 57 dukkar. The originals would be like this, and some models even smaller.

Yup I was fortunate to visit the place and see all these before it was too late. Alongside was also a rotting Fiat 850, pics are in the rust in pieces thread. The Fire engine wasnt Tata, but a Premier truck, quite a rarity in itself.

Righto and i have bought a part of this mall to extend my business there. WHen i wen tto have alook at the place it was an empty factory. I was only hoping to find a glimpse of an old car tucked away and forgotton, maybe a barn find but nothing. Imagine if one found a line of old but new dukkars made and forgotton....Karl's wet dream
