Default Nostalgic pictures of our family's cars

I was recently gifted many priceless old photographs dating as far back as the 1900s, and amongst them were these absolutely superb ones featuring cars. I've noticed many old outdoor pictures usually featured the family car in the back, and I figured they deserve their place. So do share them with us, it gives us a great insight into the time they lived in. Some pictures might be better suited to the dedicated threads (if your grandfather drove a Duesenberg for example), so take a call before uploading them here.

Most of them were given to me by a wonderful lady who recently passed away. Her uncle owned the famous Dadajee Dhackjee & Co LTD, one of the bigger car dealers in Bombay. They used the best of cars throughout their lives, and travelled all over the world back in the day, as is evident from some of the pictures. I wonder where the first one was shot in the 20s.

Thats the lady Mrs Freny Mody who gave me the pictures, as a little girl. Can anyone identify the car?

Here she is driving her first car, a Morris. Picture shot at her residence at East Street, Poona.

This looks like a late 20s Chevy to me. Am I right? The picture is dated 1928.

A trio of Packards for DKG. The roadster might be the Gondal car, the other 2 were in the family. The roadster was on display at the West End theater which was running a Clark Gable movie featuring the same car.

Much more to follow. In the mean time, dig up some more.

Lovely pics Karl. It not difficult to understand why you're a vintage car buff.

Karl, Thanks and appreciate your efforts for sharing fantastic collection of old photos. Please keep coming more, as I am very much interested to see old cars dealers showrooms, etc. in Bombay. Since Dadajee & Co. is famous, they may also be dealers for Morris, Austin, Chevrolet, Hillman,
etc.

Hope to see more interesting photos from you.

Regards,

Fabulous pictures, a real treat. Thanks for sharing them Karlos. Of the Packards one is a 1937 120 convertible sedan and the other a 1928 (maybe earlier) Tourer. The coupe is a 1935 car as you say possibly the Gondal car, could be another of the same year

These pictures are such a treasure

Thumbs up Fantastic

What a great find Karl. The lady sure knew what she was doing when she handed over her priceless stuff to you.
Nostalgic find and it must be great to have a look at them. I would love to see them in person sometime. I can imagine the smile on your face whenevr you go through them.
Coincidently I was just digging in an old chest abandoned for many years in my house, recently discovered, just a few days ago. It has a huge collection of pictures of my family and relatives. Some black and white and also some of my ancestors in Rawalpindi and other areas of what is now Pakistan. Am documenting them and the I will post these pics soon.

Neat pix Karl!

I think the photos were taken by someone who loved photography. Because there are people posing with the car,one can understand who big those cars are. I was surprised coz I thought vintage cars would be of the size of our present day sedans.

For example, there's 9 people in that car! Can we have the engine specs too if someone can identify it?

My thoughts too.

Thanks, Karl. Loved the first pic the most. There's more in that pic than just a car from days gone by.

These pictures are priceless Karl. By the way, I got myself original operation manuals of the Premier 118NE and the Mark 4 Ambassador from a very dear friend who retires from the company on 31 March. He was digging into his papers, he found them and I literally ran to him and got them.

Best regards,
