This is a modified Fiat 1100R
Very rusty below the paint, generally in poor condition.

Maybe an Opel Kadett cabrio. Probably had a nickname like Streltch or Straultch, or something similar. Only the door shutline near the rear mudguard should be boringly straight of the Opels and Renaults of the era, and not curving like in this one - maybe modified.

It is an authentic 1100R Italian fiat. The dash, front fender near headlight, lower bottom belt line are sure shot indicators she is an R...the taillight seem like lada fiat or the equivalent Italian fiat where lada and 118 ne came from. Perhaps the original round tails lights were damaged so these retrofits

I wonder how these drive in comparison to regular 1100's...anyone care to share their experience? They came with front discs and a DOHC setup. So I wonder if the feel is like an 118 ne or something lighter yet crisp?

Front discs yes, but not DOHC. The car was fitted with a Weber DCOE though.

One car getting restored in Mumbai, then hopefully I'll know how they drive.

The hub caps seem much too large to be an Austin 8 tourer. More akin to a late 30s hillman minx I think

Now here is a real pickle - very sporty looking, and very stylish driver and companion

Right hand drive, boat tail, external shifter, artillery wheels - a real racing machine. Strangely seems to have one of those vents on the cowl, usually seen in Maharaja Rolls Royces.

Could that be Elizabeth Junek ? She was in India / Ceylon in the 1920's demonstrating Bugattis - though the car dosen't look like one.

She had type 44 for demonstration

and this looks like a) fiat 2) the little air breather on cowl suggests a RR 20 hp rebodied but wheels don't justify . Please see battery holders below seat in original snap. ? . Let me once again study it

Cheers

That was brilliant, Karl - not in my wildest imagination, would I have have guessed!

The car looks so much larger / taller in the period picture. Wish we could see the whole car.
