Sir,
Definitely I will post more photo's, but now I am away from home with my job, will do ASAP.
This Jeep I bought last year, which is sourced by one of my friend from Cochin. It has original 4 cyl engine and with the proper charged battery it cranks up in one or two try......very smooth driving.
I took it the local car rally in Mangalore and the District collector was amazed to see how it starts.
Thanks.....

Default 1932 Austin 10/4

Friends,

Here is my 1932 Austin 10/4 which I bought in year 2003 from Nagpur.
It took years to bring it to original shape.....still working on it.

10hp, 4 cyl, 1125cc, 4 speed, 65m/h

The headlight reflector was broken and we used flat/ plain glass as temporary solution as I couldn't get any 8" reflector. Last year I bought an original 8" Lucas headlight unit from ebay and now its been changed.

I bought Smith 8day clock and Lucas PLC switch from ebay.
I have hub cap's with "A" in the centre.
The radiator cap was custom made by me with Boyce motometer which works fine and looking to buy an Winged cap.
The worm for speedo was missing and one of my friend made it by hand using brass and now speedo is working.

The thing killing me is the wheels.....
The wheel used is from later model Austin 10 1936-1939 and I am looking to buy and change to 500/525X16" Magna (wire)wheels.
An distributer from NZ said Excelsior tyre make those sized tyres from India, any idea ??????

The photo shows the condition I bought and the current condition.

Any helps are most welcomed....

Hi GirishPV

Good collection, Austin 10 is really nice cars, we used to have it similar
model long time back. Back side mudguard seems not properly in shape
try to correct the shape. See the original pictures and try to restore to
original condition as much as possible. Tyres of this size is difficult to find
in India, but try in UK, but it will be expensive. How is the engine, gearbox
is it in working order or needs tune-up?

Keep us posted as you restore this nice car, wish you all the best.

Cheers!

Thanks mate,

The engine and gear box is in perfect condition, i use to start it once a while, clean the plugs, oil, fresh petrol, charged battery etc.....will crank up very easily.
Yes, the tires are the problem, let me see how can I come up with the solution.
Look at the following photo from the web.....mine has same type of rear bumper.

Cheers......

Girish, Thats an awesome collection you have there. Would love to see all of these beauties in person. Will drop by the next time I am in Mangalore(am assuming that you won't mind :-))

BTW, in the very first post of this thread I noticed an enfield with a "UTX" registration. I am guessing that it is a "UTG" registration. If yes, then it brings memories of my hometown Meerut in UP. :-) Also, my cousin used to have an enfiled with an UTG reg.

Hi Veldeep,

Nice collection of cars, specially Hindustan 10 is really nice car, very smooth running, usually comes in black color. Share with us, you experience with this car, how long it is with you, done any restoration work and spare parts were available etc.

I had also seen one Standard 8, somebody posted in one thread in
same color scheme like your Hindustan 10. Did this Standard 8 also belongs to you?

Good luck!

Hi Girish, I am an enthusiast from Chennai. I have an Austin too, but a Seven , a 1934 AAK Open Road Tourer, apart from other classic cars and bikes. I have a DKW-Auto Union RT200 too and a '46 AJS 16M 350CC.
Regarding 5,00 5.25 X 16 tyres, yes I believe MRF have the moulds and make it only for Export. I was in touch with their Sales Manager who indicated that they are not to sell these tyres in the local market.
I believe in some markets in the North local brands of 5.50 X 16 tyres are available. Alternatively you could buy a 5.50 X 16 tractor front ribbed tyre, shave off the ribs and get it retreaded with normal road tread.
Please check up the clearances on the mudguards as well as when in full turn before you venture into doing this.
