Girish, The parking area like this for the bikes sure is a luxury.
I am suffering, as the garages on rent for the numerous vehicles I have, have become so expensive as rents have trebled in Chennai. I am in the
process of building an big enclosed area in my garden to house all my vintage and classic cars and bikes like a display. Still it will not be able to house all but atleast I do not have to be so dependent on whimsical owners of garages.
The leak in the matchless may be from the clutchcase as Matchless/AJS
have these problems if the rubber beadings on the clutchcase have become weathered and are not leakproof. The rubbers are available in Delhi.c

Thanks Talaiva,

I too had difficulties for parking, when I built my new house, I made cellar section just for my vehicles.
Yes, the leak is from clutchcase as well as the pipe runs from the oil tank to the engine. The thread is worn in one section.

True, Chennai is becoming very expensive these days,
Hopefully I will visit you in October....

Thanks and regards

girish: Is that the original tail lamp set? I was under the impression that the one in the pic given below was the original one. Could you kindly confirm this?

Name: Tail lamp.jpg

Size: 28.5 KB

Edit: On perusing your GTS's snap even closely I do see that it is an Amber/red combined Tail lamp and yes I guess it is the original. How did you manage to get a new one, besides the lovely Tank mongrams and Rubbers. Man what I wouldn't do to lay my hands on these new parts. Any sources were I can find these girish?

Friends,

I am very sorry for the late reply, I was busy with my standard car and TWN bike works.

hillram - The monograms were on the same bike
Suren - The tail lamp used is off the Jeep and it looks very close to original one.
The tank rubber, I sourced from HYD only......as Stanher for more details...

cheers

Wow, girish! Lovely bike! I see its from Hyderabad- bought from Mr. Modi?
Now even if there is any other work pending on this bike, I suggest you take it home. Atleast now that it is starting, you don't have to worry about it sitting idle. Its spent enough time at the workshop.

Thanks Stanher and TuffyRyder.

The pipe is original and I think that it was an sports model.

TWN Cornet was ready to come home but at the last moment the clutch chain was broken and I had been to Coimbatore and found similar chain in an old spare parts shop M/S Babulal & Sons.
And also found BING carb for the same bike.

cheers

Hi Girish,

Those are some lovely looking bobby's, dont they come with a side stepny?

I have another question, I am in the process of acquiring a bobby from delhi and it is UP registered. Is it required to have it changed to KA registeration or can I ride with the current registeration. I may have issue with getting an NOC from UP.

Hi Srisha,

If possible change to your name in temporory UP address and in KA you can pay road tax and ride, in Mangalore I did not had any problems till today. My Austin is in my name in Kolkata, but I have paid Tax in KA.
Better check with any RTO officer.

cheers
