From the 70s movie -CHACHA BHATHIJA.
Aside, the Amby taxi seems to be running around the Fort area of Bombay?

Note the side indicators on the Premier President.

Amazes me as to how many old Bollywood had Herald playing a role in them!
Here's one driven by Dharmendra throughout a 1965 movie- NEELA AKASH!

Hardly any other cars seen in this movie too!

What appears to be a '50 Chevy styleline deluxe in a 60s movie 'Aasra'- number appears to be BYH1024. Anyone know if it still exists?

one of my childhood favourite Kannada numbers.

Here, Anant Nag and Shankar Nag are car thieves going about their work.

Five different classics seen as the song progresses.

And one to be seen even before the song starts!

The Herald happens to be the first car they steal...only to knock of the wheels and sell them in the used parts market (maybe the gujiri? )

A Premier President and a couple of more interesting vehicles can be seen- couldn't identify the truck, and what looks like an oval window Beetle!

From the movie JEENE KI RAAH. A '64 Chevy Impala and a '63 Nova in a chase scene. Both seem to have been registered almost at the same time! Nova appears even later in the movie, and finally a few other yank tanks in the end.

Not much I could find in this movie "AAP KI PARCHAIYAAN" apart from this '57 chevy. Familiar/surviving car?

From 2 60s movies though not much to be seen in either-
EK PAHELI, with a Jaguar XK120(?), which turns into an American LHD convertible briefly!
And 'DO BADAN' with a '58 Plymouth Belvedere and a Fiat 1100 in the background.

Not American - that's a rare oval window beetle convertible. I had posted it somewhere earlier in this thread too.

Dear Shyam - if I am not mistaken, MRT was a commercial vehicle registration series. Therefore, the number may be fake. In hindi films, this was quite common.

Is it the same Oval which is with Anand Desai?

Yes, it was common to switch plates, but I have seen a lot of Chevys/Dodges and Fords of the 60s bearing white MRT plates (all 3 digit) - possibly tourist taxis/hire cars?

Maybe, both were red and LHD, and both had a radio and grab handle. But that's not enough to confirm.

Interesting as haven't seen any other Oval convertible in India other than the one in Mumbai. It may well be the oldest surviving bug in India, with stiff competition from the one in Hegde's collection which I think is a 1955 - just because it has only 1 Tail Pipe. Twin tail pipes were introduced only in 1956.
