Vintage & Classic Mercedes Benz Cars in India-dsc05929.jpg
Had spotted this one in Panaji in 2002. It was owned by a British couple who had just restored the car then.

Default 126/1990/500se/lhd

126/S Class seems to be the flavour of the season, some pictures of a nice 500SE.Except for leather upholstery this is a no frills version.Happy Diwali!!

Now that's a sweet W126, but it's A/t, so not the lowest version, and also the headlights wiper.

hi sunil so finally your dream come true to my knowledge you are the one amongst having the really well kept merc collection from 1953 300 t0 1995 E300 i think thats more than enough because from the W 140 its like asking for trouble so finish off with an mercedesbicycle for now

Nice looking car, but just some observations which you can clarify.

It has the first generation wheel caps and steering wheel 9without airbags) but the trim on the doors and the sides of the car, as well as the seats are from the 2nd generation ( 1986 onwards), atleast thats what it looks like to me.

The 500SE script is very unusual, not like the normal script with an underline as on the W 126 series.

Default Clarification

This car is a 1990 model, the rear number plate holder has a Luxembourg dealer address so I guess its an European import, first registered in Coimbatore.
Don't think airbags were standard in 1990, a friends 1991/126/300SE imported from England has similiar hubcaps, bootlid model monogramme and does not have airbags.
Cheers,
SG

Just got back from an awesome Kochi<->Coorg trip in the 500SE,via Coimbatore, Sathyamangalam,Mysore, motoring nirvana!!Only downside was the Trichur Alathur section, the roads are breaking up and no sign of any intentions to repair by the Higways dept.

wow sunil, loved your SE.. really gorgeous. I believe you stilll have the stock v8 in it?How does she perform?? can you post a picture of the engine bay??

If i am not mistaken difference between the SE and SEL was SE is a standard wheelbase and SEL is for a longer wheelbase. The engine was the same M117 series and a monster of a torque unit...

Hi Everyone,

Took this 1961 220S for a spin last Sunday. Engine was seized up, but we managed to get her going. May do some work on it, especially the body. The car is generally complete though.

Regards
Prithvi

Yes Indeed the car looks quite original, are you sure this is the first series fintype 1961 220S though and not a 220. We hope to see a restoration thread on this soon.
