hi naren,
congratulations on owning the only 4wd vehicle
in india which comes with a factory fitted winch
i do have my reservations on the alloys and the
bank of lights on the roof, but apart from that
i think its pretty well executed..
a modern oil burner and g/box (maybe the scorpio unit)
would have been very welcome but then...
happy jeeping..
cheers

Naren, forget the negative comments about the Legend, even my friend owns one and i know the difference between the Legend and the other Mahindra jeeps.First thing you notice in the Legend is its smooth ride and the gear shifting is like childs play, its so smooth very different from the other jeeps. Have you taken it off-road ?????

Here are the pics of my friends Jonga that we took offroad today morning.
Guys the Petrol engine of the Jonga is one mean machine...we drove it in 2 wheel drive in most of the places, never did we feel the need to engage the 4 Wheel drive. My friend wanted to test the Jeep before getting it painted. Its gona get the same green shade as his Mahindra Legend.

great pictures of the jonga egangsta. the jonga is a very powerful machine. the soft terrains that we have dont require the 4wd to be engaged. a deep militry green like the legend would look really nice on the car.

Yes.
Veethree brand dashboard instruments are made by a 30-year-old Faridabad based family-owned company called Indication Instrument Ltd. They are ISO/TS 16949:2002 certified.

Cheers...

Hi eGangsta, i agree with you on the ride and the smooth gear changing ,i have taken it for a long drive to Coorg and Western Ghats but have not done any wild off roading....:-)

when i was away......... my father had our 1962 Mark 1 for repainted. The mechanic mechanic removed the SU carb and the air filter and replaced it with a solex and a new air filter. In addition he also replaced the old style bumpers with a mark2 bumpers when i got to hear of it i was shell shocked.
I am now trying to restore it back to its old glory. Do you have any owners manual or any books on Ambassador Mark 1
i will ask you for more advise on how to go about it
cheers
naren

stumbled on this thread by accident!

i was 4 when i saw a green jeep in my granny's garage...
i was five when i spelt WILLYS on the hood...
i was 7 when i realised it looked a really really cool ride...
i was 7 1/2 when it got sold, almost as scrap...

if only i knew then what i know now...

cheers,

hey gangsta,

nice ride and fantastic pics dude...

i know the jonga very closely since my old man was a "pucca fauji!!". as a matter of fact, my 1st driving lesson was a sly one on the trusty dependable jonga, with it's 3 forward gears and it gorgeous 1.8 kmpl average !!! LOL (this was before the army developed a concience!)

but good god was the jonga some serious off roader! i remember having ridden in it when it went into stuff that seemed insane and came out chomping at the bits, almost as if it was waiting for some more nonsense!

i was sorry to see it replaced by the gypsies...

cheers

dude...

any leads on bhopal... have a friend who seems to have connections in the city, so it might be an interesting foray trying to find a "vintage" jeep...

i'd absolutely trip at being able to get my hands on something like this.

what sort of numbers would we be talking for a reasonable kaiser/willys or ford?

cheers,

I guess there are 2-3 more owners in Bangalore. I just mustered enough courage to share the pictures with all of you.
