Default Pics : Pune Festival MASA Rally, 2008

Yesterday was the Pune Festival rally organised annually by the MASA, Maharashtra Automotive Sports Association, this year held at the CPR, Centre for Police Research, Pashan.

By and large most of the participants this year were regulars, but we did have a couple of interesting first timers. A lot of BHPians were present including V-16, President, veldeep, hkanitkar, Raja, Dhabhars, tidtzer and more. The Mole was participating in his lovely Mercedes 180D Ponton, in which we jumped in.

Here are a few of the cars present, alphabetically.

A neat Austin, always a Poona car.

Jag E Type V12 convertible of the Poonawalla collection, Im told it is a recent import. Superbly presented, though I did see it on the side of the road with the hood popped up and the crew fiddling with something en route.

I couldn't manage any pictures of the Jasdanwalla's Wolseley and Pierce Arrow, nor could I get any of the Rolls. Crowds were too much, location was cramped. Perhaps someone else managed some shots.

And last but not the least, Amol's lovely 180D. By far the most original Mercedes I have seen, and a supremely practical car too I realised as we weaved through Pune's worst traffic. Amol also happily claims 18 kpl of diesel

From L-R Amol, Gogi (sporting his new Lambretta!) and President.

We will have to wait till roni posts his set of pictures! He has taken some really good ones! Unluckily, i didnt ake any pictures this time!! will disuaded by a certain "devil"!!!

Coming back to the point, the Jag had a battery problem. I saw jumper cables and another battery by the side of the road with the Jag....

Also, for the benefit of everyone, we(dhabhars) participated in the Rally with our LHD. Didnt get many glances but when we were flagged off, the annoncer greatly appriciated the roll cage and the hood hump. Also, he loved the Exhaust note.

Thanks a lot karl for a detailed pictorial and report !

As i reached a bit late at the venue, it was already crowded and thus, couldn't click all the cars like last year.

The highlight of the show was Abbas Jasdanwalla's 1908 Wolseley Landaulet. TV crews crammed around the car - so didn't really bother to click that one.

Bhale's Impala was there, but couldn't manage pics.

Here are some pics that i clicked.
Buick :

Thakkar's Charger :

His MGB was pretty much roughed up. The chrome on badges was off at some places.

The Poonawala's usual Rolls Royces :
Silver Cloud II :

Sliver Shadow :

The Jag E Type : Immaculate condition on the exterior. But as Cyrus said, there were jumper cables and a battery kept behind the car.

Oh and btw, the jag did stall outside the gates after flag off, but somehow managed to start and get going. Then it was the Silver Shadow that stalled. Some guy came down in poonawala's Cayenne and looked into it - and then that one went off too.

This time, surprisingly, none of bhosale's cars entered the rally. Also, of the new supercars, only bhale's SL55 AMG was present to accompany poonawala's Flying Spur with a bling mansory kit and the Phantom.
