WOW!! Great pix!! It seems chennai has some really awesome cars! Nice to see the 2 studebaker presidents!

The golden merc seems to be a converted RHD as it sports the american spec lights.

MSC 3738 does not look like a stude to me, the rims looks very british!

It was available in the UK as halogens were optional! All 280SE 3.5's came like this

Karlos - let me end your confusion - pic of an LHD e-type below

While I've been told by most that TMC 21 is a SS100 but could it possibly be a 1934 SS1? which preceded the SS90 and SS100? Weren't all SS100's 2 seater roadsters? Any experts on the marque?

MSC 3738 is a large Vauxhall, identified immedeately by trademark spears along the bonnet to the grille.

Take a look at the Prewars Jaguar thread where I've posted pictures of an identical car. I am now inclined to believe TMC 21 is a 1934 SS1 and not a SS100 as commonly believed. Hope someone corrects me if I got that wrong.

Here are some pix of the Dodge Fluid drive-TMF 8777, in the condition the current owner got it in. There was a little more work pending when i saw it, and i must say, the older paint looks better than the current scheme.

Ah yes, just noticed your Vanguard etstae pic.!

Is 9958 a 1200 then? Because it has the HERALD lettering across the bonnet, as per early 1200s and 12/50s (later replaced by TRIUMPH)

Wow, the founder chairman (K Gopalakrishnan?)'s car!! I really envy the owner! And what is this group that you'd worked with? UCAL? Is it the same as UCAPL, who made radiators for Heralds (as mentioned on almost every herald radiator Ive seen)

Good?? Understatement!

Anwyays, I was more than thrilled to see MYB 6890, one of my favourite Heralds!! Its an early (61/62) mk1, one of THE most pristine examples of this model year!
'wish there were more pic.s of it though.

MDC 6600 looks like an early rover to me?

MDC-6600 is probably a 1950 Rover 75 "Cyclops"

Almost right DKG TMC 21 is not a '34 SS1 Tourer but a '37 SS Jaguar Tourer. Same body (almost ) but the newer chassis & the Harry Weslake OHV engine.SS Cars had 105 SS1 bodies carried over which they mounted on the new chassis S no 19001 to 19105 . This car is # 19102 sold in '37
The guy got it right on the wipers on the E Type. The Chennai car is an original RHD, the Pune one almost certainly LHD . Even I had to look that one up after reading that post.Brilliant.

Some comments from Harit. This was before the SS confusion was clarified, delay on my part for posting.

Quote:
I have just gone through the thread.
The Golden Merc is a 280 S or SE, I forget. The headlights are not original, changed. The car is originally RHD. It went from Mumbai, was originally Sayedna's car
MSC 3738 is ofcourse a Vauxhall.
MDC 6600 is a Rover.
TMC 21 is a SS. Very clever. But is it a 90 or 100? This can be controversial. Suggest someone talks to oldtimers in Chennai. The reason is that I always thought that threre were at least three SS 100's in India, one Mr. Shroff, then in Hyderabad and Chennai. Later on I was told that Hyderabad and Chennai are rebuilt cars, and who knows if we are talking of the same cars. Here some R & D is required.
There is a lot of praise for the turnout in this Chennai Rally. But do you know, they have 2 clubs and the other club also has some lovely cars. Now if they combined, they could definitely have a show as good anywhere in India. At least in numbers. But there may be a third group/club looming in the horizon.
So the Nerul to Bangalore Singer has gone to Chennai. Does she have a new owner? The price in Bangalore was steep.
MDR 200 chevy has a strange grill, I have not seen similar before.

Harry what were the differences between the SS100 and the 2 1/2 litre SS tourer? Shorter wheelbase? Uprated engine? Do share such details as it would make for interesting reading.
