Default Renault classic cars in India

Can anyone tell me if they know of any Renault classic cars in working condition in India. I'm based in Goa/Mumbai so I would be particularly interested in knowing about any in the West.

Any and all information will be gratefully received.

There is one guy on Law College Road in Pune who has one. Maybe Karlosdeville can provide more details.

best regards,

The Renault I know of in Pune is a 4CV which I saw in 1978 when I met the owner who had several more cars. at that time the car was in good condition.
There are two prewar Renaults in Nashik ( Mr. Dhabhar!! ), one is complete and the second is basically only the body shell. But both are in the wrong hands, now delapidated. These are of the model similar in size and appearance to the prewar Opel Olympia. I tried to Google for the exact model designation but it is taking too much time.
Similar to this there are at least 4 to 5 cars more in India, one was in Nagpur, went on to Delhi, now no track.
Then there was a Renault Fregate nearer to Delhi, also unrestored.
The two Jewels are Veteran cars, one in the Hegde collection, it is on team-bhp. Another is in Kolkotta, belongs to a collector from the old school. There may be one more.
There must be some more Renaults lying around, but they never came in hordes. There were very few post 1960 Renaults in India, except the R4 which was brought to India by United Nations and then sold off. These were spread all over India, as far as Kerala, Tamil Nadu. But unfortunately they are really not collectible.
There are ofcourse a couple of Renault Vans in India.
Any more out there? Please continue this thread.

There was a white Caravelle Convertible, lying at Juhu Beach belonging to a hotel owner which sported a Delhi number (the owner is from Delhi originally) I have not seen it since a few years now but when i met the owner recently, he said it was lying with him and in great nick, all restored, in Bombay at his house.

Then a 4L lying in down south, red and in good condition was offered to me for sale last year. I didn't think it warranted the demanded price. I believe the car is still lying unsold.

Besides this i had spotted a white 4L in Delhi last year too, almost mint.

I forgot to mention this early Renault in the royal garages of Bahwalpur. Now in Pakistan, it was part of India pre Independance, so I thought I'd put it up. Car looks remarkably well preserved.

On a recent trip to NAGPUR, I saw a Renault 4, apparently lying for a long time, in a garage somewhere in the Civil lines area. Maybe Dr. Anjan can help ?

Incidentally, my parents had worked in NIN (National Institute of Nutrition) here in Hyd. for many years and my dad (plus a couple of others who'd worked there) had told me that one of the previous Directors of said institute had a Renault 4 (from their description) brought down from the HQ (ICMR) at Delhi specially meant to be used as the Director's official car. This was in the 60s. This might have been an ex-UN car as many UN-owned vehicles were later sold or maybe even donated(?) to State/Central govt. bodies. Subsequently, once it proved difficult to maintain here, this Renault was sold and replaced by the more common Amby! No idea what happened to it thereafter.
