I think the car either has a replacement engine, or atleast a Free Flow exhaust. It displays surprising speed off the traffic lights, and a throaty loud growl that surprises passerbys. !
Hey! I've seen this car at Hazra! It sure does have a FFE! I was amazed when I heard the sound coming from this 14.
BTW today i caught a glimpse of red vintage convertible at Rashbehari.Just saw a speck in the distance.Could'nt identify the make.

Here's a well loved Morris Minor, all decked out for a Rally or something.
Driven every weekend.

was this car lying inside a garage near rashbehari crossing?? if it is so, i saw this same car with a BABY HINDUSTAN badge & those stupid mods. done. the car was getting ready for the digha rally. the owner probably has a red 800 which sounds like a F-16 jet.

there was a small Austin Devon toy car lying behind the cars at the back of the garage.

That's the place. I've had work done by him over the years and he's a nice guy, does a good job, price is right & loves his Minor what I consider a "work of art".

Experts, is the dashboard authentic? Doesnt it look like an Ambassador Nova dash?
Its a Nova/ISZ 1800/2000DSL dash with the cheap plastics in full bloom. The meter console facing the wheel is modded with so many meters.Maybe the guy has done it as it is a daily use car.

Good find Amit. This is the Lamby Polo, the last model to roll out of the Bhandup (Mumbai 40072) assembly lines of the Automobile Products of India Ltd.Guess its rare to sight these. The company closed down in 1986. Unsold stocks were with many of the dealers till perhaps 1987 or so.

I think I've seen this same Hindustan 14. It's normally parked on Brabourne Road (near my office) every day, during working hours.

Saw this Padmini today, first one this trip. Camera setting was off so the colours not so good but better than nothing. Is this model becoming rare?

Two weeks ago saw a Padmini taxi, probably the only one in South Calcutta, possibly in the whole City. It looked so sweet.

John, that is a Premier 118 NE, based on the Fiat 124 internationally. Lada built their version too in Russia, proved most successful for them.

The 118 NE sports a Nissan engine, hence the name NE I believe. Incidentally, this engine is loosely based on the archaic 1500cc B series engine from BMC, which we are familiar with on our very own Ambassador.
