Hi Jai.

Nice pics. I hope you took pictures of all the cars present. There look to be some interesting cars in the background of some of your shots.

Hope to see more pictures soon.

Nice pics. jai! 'seemed to be a good turnout even though, as you say, many cars form previous events were missing, namely my favourite '61/62 black mk1 herald -MYB 6890 and the VAuxhall Wyvern belonging to AVM studios family.

And what about your lovely Pennant?!! Didn't you bring it this time??

That is an Austin A 90 Atlantic, very different from other Austins of the era, aimed at the US market. There was one in Pune with a large collection for some time, in same colour. I don't recall the regn though.

What about t he Pennant (see in xoticars' album, link given by karl)...?? It shouldv'e struck a nostalgic chord in you, your father having owned one long ago!
What colour was your car btw? Was it one of the common 2-tone?

Default I was there too!

Jai,

Awesome pictures!! It truly was a great morning - I spent close to 2 hours just walking around the parking lot a few times. I've taken some pictures, which I shall upload tonight.

I was lucky enough to get to drive two of these beauties. I drove the Ford jeep as part of the parade, and the red mustang a few hours later. The jeep looks authentic, but has an old Contessa engine and gearbox! It was absolutely fantastico!!!

Stay tuned for the pictures shortly

It should not be surprising that there were less cars at the event, unfortunately the Chennai car scene is also split into 2 camps and they are quite apart. So no 170V of Duessy, no Alfa of Anil, no SS, etc.
When you see the pics, you will notice a nice car next to the Austin 7 MDC 1468. This is a Singer LeMans of Dr. Papa.
The Jag does not and cannot have Pakistani plates. As per my info, these are probably Canadian. Could Mr. John comment?
There are many more great cars in Chennai, they should make peace and have a really grand event.

The gold colored Jag was trucked down from Bangalore and reached Chennai the night before the event. An acquaintance of mine recently bought it. The car was lying in disrepair in Calcutta for many years, before an enthusiast bought the old lady and brought her to Bangalore for the restoration. I heard that the car still needs a lot of work - the hood emblem is missing, there are rust spots all over the car, and the chassis and engine bed need some strengthening.

I didn't notice the plates (had other things to look at!). Will ask the owner if I bump into him again. But the car is an Indian registered car, this much I'm sure of.

Yes, I believe they are Canadian plates. I wonder if the car is here to stay or just for a visit.

That is quite a good memory Stanher. I saw the photos just now. My dad had a similar one to this. Just a single tone colour. It was grey with the grill being a little more dense like in the Amby Mk-II. That is as far as I remember. That was 33 years back. It was a great feeling sitting in that car.

MSQ 9232 - I remember that one very very well.
