They look like VW Variant bumper over-riders to me, from what I can recollect from the vestiges of my fading memory. Google Baba could help with pics to compare with.

The bumper guards look a lot like those used on Hillman Imp / Minx / super Minx in the late 60s.
However, all Rootes bumper guards that I have seen have a flatter rubber impact strip. This one is more bulbous much like the one that came on MGBs.
So I'm not a hundred percent sure.

I would say these were locally built by Vidyut Motors as accessories for Heralds (to fit over the auxiliary bumper). Here is a pair I have.

You may have a point there, Karl. But isn't the size, and especially the arch of invinci's over-riders different from the ones you've shown? Or did the Herald have aux bumpers of varying curvature?

Edit:
invinci's over-riders are not very well-finished (no offence meant, invinci!), especially the rubber part, so could indeed be a local produce, possibly by Vidyut Motors only. But, maybe for some other car than the Herald, maybe even as an after-market for some other Indian, or imported make of car?

Perhaps these are front and rear accessory bumper guards meant for the Gazel?
The stock bumper overriders seem to have a different curvature too.
Did Vidyut Motors manufacture aux bumpers and over-riders for the Gazel as well?

Karl. That this Bumper guard came from the same industry as the pair you have.

These are for some other bumpers as the curvature is different

Just a random thought, looking at invinci's bumper over-riders, and bulletboy's correct comparison of it with the Gazel's, that does look similar. Is it necessary to flatten the front surface to fit the rubber guard, on an otherwise rounded body - can't the rubber guard be a wraparound? Does it reduce the roundness from the sides too. One would assume that Vidyut Motors would have taken a Gazel's OE over-rider to make a die from, then what?

Gentlemen (and ladies?), I am looking for engine parts for my 1955 Landmaster. Most importnantly I need pistons (standard size), which were common to the Morris Oxford MO, sidevalve. Also useful would be vavles, valve guides, and water pump.

Also useful would be a restored engine altogether

AFAIK, no. The auxillary bumpers that these guards came on seem to have been specifically made to suit the Herald's bumpers, especially the rear ones. See how it entirely overlaps the Herald's rear bumper in the pic.
Compare that with the Gazel's rear bumper which is shorter on the sides.
