Wow Doc, nostalgic pictures.. The black fiat select in picture no.4 looks immaculate. The teardrop ('fish') shaped side lights are almost extinct now..

Nice pics.! I remember you'd posted the pics. with the cream+green Pennant and MYO 61 earlier- the latter having previously belonged to the Maharaja of Mysore, as stated in some auto mag. I read years ago.

I like the pic. of BYJ 768....the family seems to have attended in period costume with teh car! Now if only girls still dressed that way (I mean always!), plus coming from a classic-car owning family, it would be like driving me with an automatic transmission straight to cloud nine!

Oops, excuse the digression! hehe..

Thanks SS,Stanher, CYRUS I do not see the Fiat nowadays. It used to be in running condition and in daily use earlier.
Stanher you're right. The Minor MYO 61's picture had appeared in Autocar India in a rally review by me, where the fact about its royal lineage was made known. It belonged to Wing Commander J.B. Contractor and has also disappeared from the rally circuit.
And even the Minor BYJ 768 is not seen anymore.

Thanks Karl. Those days many rally reports in auto magazines like Auto India and Indian Auto would report other exotic cars participating with an eye on their details. The tailpiece would be "many Austins and Morrises were of course there."
I am to scan dozens of other rally pictures and will post them here!

So would you say Vinatges and classics have increased or decreased within the Nagpur area? I recall lot of cars were offered for sale from the Nagpur area about 5yrs ago or so.

Nice pics.! Thanks doc! I remember some of the cars, as they were also covered by Auto India in one of their 1999 issues.

MYO 61 Minor 1000 is said to have belonged to the Mysore Maharaja.

Nice to see a phase 3 Vanguard as well! Any current whereabouts of the car known?

Thanks Stanher. That was an article by me in Auto India with some of these pictures. True MYO 61 was straight from the Mysore Palace. The phase 3 Vanguard was owned by Khemkas here who are in taxi business since more than four decades. They even offered two Mercs as tourist taxis in the 1960's.I have not seen this Vanguard lately. It may have gone out of the city surely.

Amol you are right in saying that a lot of Nagpur cars have gone out to other cities. Our vintage car rallies had a variety of cars earlier.Adlers, Triumphs, Buicks, Jaguars, Dodges and so on. Lately I believe the manitenance worries, lack of spares, reliable mechanics (most old timers are either out of business or no more) or lack of interest has forced many collectors to flee from the vintage world.
