The advertiser does not know what he's advertising says 1500cc but 1969 never saw the 1500cc engine on the Bugs.
sorry to say that you are posting the wrong information.
to the best of my knowledge 69 beetles were there with 1500 cc engines.actually till august1970 beetles came with 1500cc engine option.
here is the list of engine numbers for your reference
Engine L 0,021,115 - L 0,024,106 40bhp(DIN)1500(US0)
Engine H 1,003,256 - H 1,124,668 44bhp(DIN)1500)
Engine H 5,414,586 - H 5,900,000 40bhp(DIN)1500(US)
Engine L 0,024,107 - L 0,026,500 40bhp(DIN)1500(US)
Engine H 1,124,699 - H 1,350,000 44bhp(DIN)1500

1500 was introduced in Type I(beetles) from 1st August 66 and continued upto July1970 .
In the US the 1500 was replaced by 1600 engines an year earlier ie,Aug1969.
here are the engine numbers of the 1500 engine which came in various years.
(from Aug66- july67)
L0,000,001- L 0,019,335 40bhp (DIN)1500(US-M240smog)
H 0,204,001 - H 0,874,199 44bhp(DIN)1500*

(from Aug67- july68)
L 0,019,337- L 0,021,115 40bhp(DIN)1500(US-M240smog)
H 0,874,200 - H 1,003,255 44bhp(DIN)1500(not to US)*
H 5,000,001 - H 5,414,585 44bhp(DIN)1500(US- M157 smog)*

(from Aug68- july69)
L 0,021,115- L 0,024,106 40bhp(DIN)1500(US-M240smog)
H 1,003,256 - H 1,124,668 44bhp(DIN)1500(not to US)*
H 5,414,586 - H 5,900,000 40bhp(DIN)1500(US-M157 smog)*

(from Aug69- july70)
L 0,024,107-L0,026,500)40bhp(DIN)1500(US-M240smog)** H 1,124,699 - H 1,350,000 44bhp(DIN)1500(not to US)*

so the '1500' was not a one year phenomenon.

here are the list of changes made in the 1967 model
Oil pressure relief valve gets annular groove. "Volkswagen" badge on engine lid. 12 volt electrics. Fuse box increased from 8 to 10 fuses. Generator increased from 180 to 360 watts. Voltage regulator under rear seat. Rear track increased with wider swing axles to 1350mm. Clutch diameter increased from 180 to 200mm. 130 tooth ring gear (flywheel) replaces 109 tooth. Dual brake cylinder system (drum brakes). Front discs (single circuit) on 1500 models to some countries (not US). Outside door handle has round push button (different from previous years). Inside door handles recessed. Two speed wipers. Back-up lights (on US models). Vertical headlights replace sloped glass (non bubble, "upright" headlights like later years). US models get sealed beam headlights. Locking buttons on doors. Driver's armrest on door. Slimmer chrome trim on outside. Driver's outside mirror becomes standard. Rear anti-sway bar added. Brake fluid reservoir on 1500 raised after November 66.

I think the next 2 to 3 years are going to be good for anyone who wishes to buy/add that car they had always lusted after as I see a healthy supply coming. I think more cars were saved and brought back form the dead than the earlier decade, I reckon 80's too saw good amount of progress when compared to the 90's. I see lot more cars which never saw any driving/roads for decades have been given a new lease of life between 2000 & 10, lets hope the TRIBE remains and more cars are saved

Well for starters if I shared them here what use would they be as all the buyers and sellers will know about them and then they are useless.

Use your ingenuity and you will be surprised ant what tools you come up withto get you a good price.

Technically all the engines after 1967 were 1300 cc, only the crank shaft of the 1500cc continued to be in use, but the Bore/Stroke ratios were different.

Anyways a true 1500's are 53 bhp engines.

But cant contest since VW's were the most confusing cars ever produced. Even the 1200 motors were being used in 1967 and upto 1978 in between here and there.

Some info here:

I have gone through the link given above it is just a one page article on beetle history and there is nothing there i could find to substantiate what you have said before.

can you please explain on what basis you have made the statement
""always true 1500's are 53 bhp engines"".??

To the best of my knowledge the type 1 ,1500cc was only 40hp and 44hp engines.
the 1500cc engines which produced 52 bhp and 54bhp(M240) (definitely not 53hp) came only on Type3 models and that may be the reason for the confusion especially in INDIA because many Type3 engines were retrofitted on the type1 models.
also regarding 1200 engines ,it was not used in ""between here and there"" but regularly post 67 upto 1976 in Europe till the production was stopped at the WOLFSBURG plant .

1958 vw beetle ragtop - Ludhiana - Cars
the above ad is from a dealer/restorer although the price quoted is high,I dont think it is atrocious like the 12 lakhs kingsway or the 9lakh 69 beetle.

Vintage And Classic Cars And Bike For Sale, kolkata, India 4046461
the above ad is from a dealer and many of the cars listed have been advertised in various sites in the net and not yet sold because of the '' stratospheric'' prices!!
but the "'jewel in the crown "" as far as pricing goes is for the MGTC,
the guy quoted just 55lakhs(5.5 million INDIAN RUPEES) for it.

to add to that he seemed pretty worried when I told him that you are quoting the price of 6-7 cars at the price of one

Free classifieds in India, classified ads in India (For Sale, Personals, Vehicles, Real Estate, Community,...)

2 vehicles for sale ,both seems to be priced somewhat reasonable
