Apologies for 'intruding' but, that seems to be a Herald air-filter fitted to the carb!!!

Harit, in the event that you find the original one, could I have this air-filter??!

I too was thinking that I had seen a similar filter somewhere. But then thought that maybe this Singer Master car shared some common parts from the bin of some other car. But never knew that the "other" car was a Herald and the hawk-eyed specialist Shyam is right here on the forum.
And I earnestly hope he gets this one wishing harit will find the original.

Sure why not? And if you were to find the original filter required by me, we could straight away swap.

Cheers harit

Hi Wasif, the interior is original. I was told that the car belonged to the state doctor of a Royal Family in Rajasthan and hence the number. she started well, ran well when i went to first see her two years ago (before Harit bought it). I must admit I was taken back by her sheer ugliness.

An interesting thing was a small metal plate in the glove box area which stated that she was assembled by the Standard motor company of Madras. That's all that i remember. More from Harit

I have my doubts whether that is factory fitted upholstry, probably covers fitted ages back. The door panels certainly aren't correct.

Assembled in India maybe by Simpsons/Addison but not Standard

It would be interesting to learn if it has some oomph to it or is a slow poke

Yes could be, cant remember. Somehow standard stuck in my head, but I distinctly remember Madras, Infact I told you this right after I saw the car.

No oomph my friend we drove it around the block.

So this car in Gujrat (now in Lucknow) is the second one we know of, any other cars survive?

Indeed it is! But thats how things are at the moment!

Anyways, one could only hope that with time he is bound to slip down a bit when he finds lack of buyers for his price, and put it up again for a lower price!

It does happen in some cases.

I think one should say in All cases where the seller is a person wants to genuinely sell like in the case of the black morris minor which was initially advertised for 2.75lakhs and now if my info is not wrong the seller is willing to part with it even for 1.45 lakhs.

Vow!Thats not very much away from the market price but maybe about Rs 50K in excess. And won't be surprised if the same scooter is quoted for Rs 500,000 about 4 to 5 years later.Do not know why Lambretta prices have skyrocketed during the past few years.

Simple case of demand and supply- now that there is more demand for these scooters, people want to buy but supply is less, as most of these had been scrapped earlier! So the ones that are left are going for higher prices.
Same reason why Herald prices have also skyrocketed!
