Ajay,I was under the impression that it was having the original engine. Also, he had told me that even though not working, the trafficator connection and units were still there. The interiors and fittings were fair enough.

Yes the prices being asked is really stupid in most of the cases. The sellers think buyers are just dumb and will fork out the money asked. Mine owners too will balk at the prices being asked
I went and checked out this particular car: Redirect Notice

Vauxhall Velox, in decent shape, restoreable and hes asking 2.5Lac. I saw it still parked in his place.

This Morris 8 is far from original.Dashboard is from Morris Series E wheres this car is Series I. For this price, it is certainly not worth it.

yes,it is not worth for even half the price,
I doubt even a concourse 1936 Morris 8 will fetch the million rupee price tag!!!

Not worth it IMHO, considering the diesel engine and possibly other mech. mods as well.

This 1948 Morris is available for 15 lakhs
http://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy-.../Morris-8.html

No doubt that this car has been painstakingly restored would be one of the best restored 1948 Morris 8 existing.

But the point I am trying to make is whether this car is really worth so much. See the some auction results(though not very recent) Morris Eight Series E - Motorbase

The point I am trying to make is that when you restore a car, one should ensure that the total restoration cost including the price paid for the car, does not exceed the expected international prices. Thus if you see the auction results the max price was around Rs. 4.00 lakhs. This should be your starting point. From here how much premium one can get in India is a matter of judgement. One must keep in mind whether other similar cars are available and at what price. Just because you spent a lot of money on the restoration does not justify unrealistic pricing.

Cheers

The Landmaster does not have the original wheel rims.
The steering is also borrowed from an old pre 1970 Ambassador.
The meters are borrowed from the Mark I.
Two switches below the meters are also post 1970 and borrowed from the Ambassador. The switch to the extreme right is original while the rest are local made.
The car is not worth anything more than Rs 80- Rs 100 K.A closer inspection will reveal more gremlins.
In short, this car has spare parts drawn from all the 50 years that the Ambassador has been in existence, the latest being its ISZ 2000 DSL engine.
