Many thanks in advance.
Hi

One thing here that is very clear its a engine swapped car, so a 200 was converted to a 250. Does that take up its value? sadly not! Mercedes collectors are very particular about matching engine and chassis numbers. Hence a engine swapped car is never in demand by collectors. Personally I would pay more for a pristine 200 than a pristine engine swapped 200/250.

The engine and chassis number and also the color code (DB-something something) is found in the Engine compartment area near the radiator. Finally it all depends on the price. But at any cost i would abstain from picking up a engine swapped mercedes especially if its not been replaced with the correct engine ie 200 with a 200.

regards
mole

Thanks Mole. The good thing here is that I seriously suspect the car's gone through an engine swap (a good thing that is). While the assumption may seem funny despite the seller himself claiming the swap from a 200 to a 240. I am convinced its a 250, simply because from from what I know, 250's were the only one's that came with the distinctive feature of having that double bumper and he explicitly claimed the body work was original (Also, he is just the second owner). Plus while the seller is a thorough gentleman he his parting with the collection in old age and was more than keen to just have a conversation and display his "restoration" prowess and for some reason I think this must have been an attempted exaggeration. Putting two and two together even if it was a swap from a 200 to 240, getting the trimmings from a 250 (which as I said are a distinguishing feature) would be rather far-fetched.

I will try and get the VIN number and run a check on this Russian website where I once pulled the factory history of my W124. Hope it still exists. Will also pass it on to you experts to decipher.

So all things considered, lets assume its a 1972 250 with almost all original trimmings intact and the original engine. What would be a decent price to offer. Overall condition is good.

Much regard and thanks again.

I am generally willing to pay the international value of any car in similar condition, the going price for this would be no more than 5000 pounds in mint condition. so 4.5 lakhs max if the car has absolutely no work.

a one year old toddler bought a classic Austin Healey Sprite ,1962 model for just USD$225 , on e-bay using her dad's smartphone !

IMHO, about 2lacs is reasonable for the compact w115 - i shall also help search for an original 200 engine and gearbox to restore her!

Today's Business Standard carried this piece on a record breaking sale of a Fangio Mercedes for 19.6 million pounds.

Hello Everyone,

I have attached some photos of a bedford van which we had bought 3 years ago, now i want to restore it with perfection but before doing that i want to get an idea about the value of this vehicle. This van was used in Bikamer state. It is a Bedford PC series van. Iam not sure about the exact year of make but its somewhere between 1945 to 1950. It has independent hydraulic suspension, 4 cylender engine. Please let me know about the exact year if anyone can figure it out by looking at the photos. Currently its in running condition. My father wants to sell it because it is taking parking space but im not lettin him sell it because i think it could be a rare model and worth getting extensive restoration. Please advice.

Completely A grade restored identical vans offered at Rs. 5.5 lacs in UK Since we are not a completely mature market where supply demand is based on ranging from who wants it and why? To who the hell wants this. I could safely say if restored REALLY well you may get Rs 5.5 any higher is like poker or lottery. Current value will of course be less since this needs work = you know how much it will cost to restore. Please not market in fairly frothy place so best is to not look at sales prices etc, just give her some life enjoy her until someone comes along saying I like this and that about sums it up

That sure is a rare vehicle you have there! I think I saw a similar one junking in a garage here in hyd. a few years ago.
I wish you could retain it rather than sell it! However, aside, if you're interested in parting with the horn button (which belongs to a Standard 10), I'd be interested!

Im keeping this car now after your advise. I also have a 1945 ford Jeep. The body is original with chasis, gearbox, rims, seats, blackout lights, steering etc but i dont have its original engine. If can assist me where to find it then it would be great. Also the dials in the dashboard also not original.
