The car in the left foreground definitely seems to be a '54 DeSoto/Dodge/Plymouth.

Another Chevrolet in a similar vein!

I could sleep comfortably on those king-sized front fenders.

This is an English Ford. Notice the rt hand door, it is curved. Overall the car is smaller than an American 1935 Ford V8.

An outstanding photo of a 1948 Chevrolet, Fleetline? or Styline? Just too far deteriorated in my teenage memory.

Probably a mid-series Fleetmaster, because of the chrome trim around the windshield and windows. However, I am not sure if these were standard on export models.

The lower end Stylemaster did not have these (?)

The top of the line Fleetline also had three horizontal chrome stripes at the bottom of the front and rear fenders.

You are most correct. I remember the three horizontal stripes on the Fleetline series and, like you, I would surmise it as one of the lower end Fleetlines. You can almost make it out on the side emblem. A little creative enlargement would solve our riddle.
