Precisely for the 1920 moon. But this blue does not seem to me a factory original of the shade 'moon blue'.

Sir, in this discussion I do not seem to see any spark creating a fire. I'm on a hunt for the shade 'moon blue' , not 'blue' , as because the specifications which I have received from the Moon Car Club depicts that my 1920 Moon left the factory in 'moon blue', with deep tan leather seats. Hence I threw open the discussion as to what a authentic 'moon blue' shade looks like. Thank you for your valued remarks.

No spark at all Travancore and me have the matches tucked away . Cheers and I think travancore's advert states and am show cases a factory image which would be the correct Mooin blue and if period analysis would be my image of Moon Blue

Both right in their own ways

Cheers

From the Austin site http://pub25.bravenet.com/forum/stat...97571&cmd=show

Royal Blue, as used on another one of my RP's was/is matched to Holts Dupli-Colour - Vauxhall Navy Blue, CV99, xx9159, bar code 5095 6388 - Matched to overspray in the glove box and a hidden door panel area. It was known that the car had not been repainted prior to this use of Royal Blue CV99, from at least 1952, and there was no reason to suspect the original owner '34 - '52 had a paint job done either.

One would have thought with so many Austins made by now restorers would have accurately matched the shade in modern equivalents and the information shared on the net. Surprisingly no formula yet in DuPont or ICI paints found so far. Even a vendor in UK from whom I am buying parts has no clue. If I had a sample of the original shade at hand it can be mixed easily, but without a reference getting the shade correct is guess work.
