Dear Pavan - Fantastic, well done. And yes, the engine can be made to run, so nothing is impossible. I still remember our meeting in Bangalore in August 2010. It is so nice to see the Polynesian Biege 118NE also. I wish you all the best. Now raise the bar and become one of the best classic car restorers in India. Hard and smart work will always give good results.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

PS - please don't ignore the donor car, keep it properly, you never know!

Pawan, this car is a looker. She created a Havoc the moment she arrived at the meet . I could see the pride of Joy on your and the owners face (Joy again). She stood out from the crowd of other Fiat's. I will post some pictures which I took by tomorrow.

I am not aware of Kasli's engine, But all i can say about the Topolino Engine that i restored. The car's engine was started at 8:30 am and the only time it was switched OFF was at 4:45 pm.

Numerous Test Drives, Amidst Huge Traffic pile up, Scorching sun, all those elements never deterred the Soft Purring Topolino Engine. I might be tooo early at saying this, But after 1 year of the Engine Restoration, and approximately 500 kms of Test Run, the MYTH of a weak engine is Broken.

Hi Pavan,

Amazing! The car looks awesome!! Great restoration again from YOU! A big THANK YOU for your perserverance and passion.

I feel so awed looking at the pictures itself, and I can imagine the nostalgia it can create for people in person. Kudos to you

Just now was able to gather some words to describe my feelings after being speechless. Fantastic outcome Pavan ji, the hard work gone into this restoration is reflecting in the car. Love the final shade (color), wheels, interior work especially that carpeting.
On the mechanical front, its already been said before, you have broken a myth. That "head issue" surely brought together some of the best heads in the automotive restoration field to finally bust the myth.
I wish Joy many miles of trouble free driving pleasure in a one of a kind Mouse

BTW whats the plan for that donor car ?

The Frenzy and the HIGH is still ON with lots of congratulatory messages and calls from all over the globe, i am elated, yet grounded

The topo can only go up few more levels up from what it is now, and i shall certainly strive towards that in the coming days. But before that, the documentation has to be done, and i am desperately looking for a 1950 Topolino Invoice..

Some more pics for the thread.

4) Fuel guage to be fixed
5) Speedometer cable to be fixed

It took almost 6 months for the MAGNETI MARELLI wiper motor of the Topolino to work, So many tiny components and almost none matching from the conventional motors available in today's market, Its really laudable that my electrician finally pulled it off

The Motor ready, the assembly painted, we might go over and fit the unit once we find the suiting wiper arms and blades.

Its been Exactly THREE YEARS since i started restoring this Topolino

The Topolino has been with me for quite a long time, Car has been running just perfect. The much needed functional CHOKE cable fixed, though the knob is Non-Original ( will be rectified over weekend ) But its Perfectly functional.

Have been following so many Topolino's in the country, most of them sporting some aftermarket side ORVM's, none Original / close to look original. But, After a looong wait, Got the OE side ORVM's. Thanks to Pankaj ( theBulletBoy - Jalopy Shop ) He had been searching for this for a real long time. Very soon the trafficators too should arrive. Also got some Vintage looking Inner door grab handles. Hopefully by weekend will fit them on the car.

The car looks great, and I suppose can only get better. You should try and find the original steering wheel as well. And the tyres still look incorrect, have you been able to find what options of tyres were offered new? I doubt 5.20 14 would have been offered.

ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL - Costs almost Rs.14,000 /- Extremely expensive.

ORIGINAL Tire size 4.00/14 - Nothing compatible available

The Mirrors and the Trafficators are costing a Bomb, but have been driving the car a lot in city traffic these days, without them, it is a Pain.
