Traffic scenes of yesteryears, but traffic of a different kind. Take a look. The last photo is of the erstwhile KSRTC stand at Ernakulam.

An old picture from an old calender of Marine Drive, Bombay, taken at a time, may be early morning, when the traffic was at a bare minimum. Among the cars that can be identified are a gleaming Ford Deluxe,a Ford (?) delivery truck, a Ford Prefect taxi,(three Fords clustered at the junction ) a Fiat Select and an Ambassador. The picture is presumably from the late 1950's or very early 1960's.

NIZAM STATE ROADWAYS

The origin of NSR dates back to June1932, when it was first established as NSR-RTD (Nizam State Rail & Road Transport Department), a wing of Nizam State Railway in the erstwhile Hyderabad State, with 27 buses and 166 employees.

SIZE AT INCEPTION (1932)
Number of Buses. 27 (First generation buses were exported from Scotland by Albion Motors)
Number of Employees. 166
Capital Investment. (Rs. in Lakhs). 3 .93

1. I THINK IT IS NEAR St ANNS CONVENT SECUNDERASAB.

2. THIS TAKES ME BACK TO MY HAPPY DAYS PRE 1948.

3. I guess the picture is taken at Secunderabad Railway Station (If anybody knows the exact place, please share with me also)
(YES IT IS THE ENTRANCE SIDE VERANDA OF BOOKING OFFICE,BEFORE MIRZA ISMAIL PLATERED THE ELEVATION PRE 1945)

4. SECUNDERABAD STATION SHAKRAM/TANGA ADDA "IN" GATE & 111 CLASS WAITING HALL.

5. TANK BUND,SOMEBODY SEEMS TO HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO UNDRESS & TAKE SWIM !!.

6. The group of NSR – Deccan Queen’s can be seen in this picture. It was taken at the time on Indian Army capturing Hyderabad State. From here NIzam use to take salute from his army.

Deccan Queen

The NSR buses also known as Deccan Queen’s. There are few buses still existing and are placed in the museum
The below two pictures are captured from the APSRTC museum
1. APSRTC Bhavan outside
2. Vijaywada Bus Stand (2 PICS)

Registration Numbers

Before the last Nizam Osman Ali Khan bahadur handed over the NSR-RTD to Indian Govt. he made an agreement that every bus number should include letter Z, Z stands for Zahra Begum, Nawab Mir Osman Ali khan Nizam VII mother.

Hence the APSRTC owned vehicles exclusively include letter "Z" in registration number with a unique series viz. the late 1980s include AAZ, AEZ, AP9Z, AP10Z, AP11Z,AP24Z, AP28Z, AP29Z,AP31Z etc.

Found this lovely Flora Fountain picture from FB. Believe Flora Fountain is one place in India, that had a motley mix of congregations of the best cars in its parking lot, changing every few minutes with cars coming and going.

I would say that it is a Cadillac. Enlarged picture below.
This is more of a parade scene than a traffic scene.

Cheers harit

The car is a late 1940s Cadillac (Series 62?). The bike used by the CMP (Corps of Military Police) outriders are either Ariels or Royal Enfields, as far as I can make out.

A delightful image here, shot in Calcutta, 1975, showing a derelict LD leaning on an advertisement, and not a convincing one at that!

'hope this is the right thread to post these...some old images of Hyderabad found on "Old Indian Photos". Can anyone identify the cars? The second one on the right in the 2nd pic. appears to be a Ford Model T? Also I suspect the single one in the 1st pic. is a taxi, going by the side-stripe?
