Guessing the battery powers an electric motor with a switch reversing polarity to propel the car forward or backwards as may be desired.
Precursor to the radio/remote controlled cars we see around today.

Thanks Shreeram, and 911987 - you are absolutely right.

Meanwhile, I found two absolute gems: Fiat fans, DIE of envy !!!

These are 1:43 scale models of a 1959 Fiat Select / Super Select, and a 1973 Premier President (Taxi edition).

Both made in India, of 1976 vintage. Sorry about the bad condition. They're going to be restored soon !

These are simply brilliant... How do you plan to restore these?
I also need to undertake a similar project for my 1:43 Premier Padmini

Yes, good question! I wonder if chor bazaar has any parts for these, like the front bumpers!

Hey Gautam, thanks ! These will be dismantled, and repainted with some body filler touch up in areas where I feel they're not perfect. I'll have to make the bumpers etc myself, with tin foil.
I've done similar work in the past, hope I've not lost touch !!

Thanks Shyam !! He he, not just bumpers, but I've discovered this brilliant little shop in chor bazaar which has old forgotten toys and scale models. Plan to raid the place one of these days..

Ravi bhai thats some rare find that too made in India. I am envious of you
If i were you i wouldn't mind keeping them in the same condition as they are. They look period cars in this condition although i would be waiting for the next Fiat restoration thread.

EDIT: Ravi bhai do share some pics of the little shop at chor bazaar. I wouldn't mind purchasing a few old timers.

Thanks Sagar !
Yes, I hope to visit the shop this week. Will surely get some photos and share.

It's a good idea to keep the Fiats 'as is', but restoring will surely add another dimension, I think..

Default Trailer Tanker

Hey guys, here's another gem I found in my ol' treasure chest.

'Mobilgas' trailer tanker. Circa 1968. Made with pride in India, by Milton Toys, Calcutta.

This was bought by my mom, 'in advance' for her yet-to-be-born child. (How she anticipated a petrolhead child I wonder )

This 43 year old is in mint condition. Probably in much better condition than it's owner !!

Thats another gem you found Ravi bhai. Despite the tanker being around 4 decades old its still in very good nick barring a rear tyre.
I too unearthed a few old gems in my collection. Have posted the pics here:

PS: What happened to the shop at chor bazaar, did you find some time to visit them. Just curious to know.

Shreeram that's a cool one! I have a similar scale model (if you may call it that) but instead of the cig lighter mine is a Radio! It works perfectly too. I'll have to dig for it all over my parent's house to locate it now! Let me find it and then post the pics!
