BTW its a square 8, so I'm told. Haven't got pics of the engine but will do so tomorrow.
This is a Lancia Di LAmbda from calcutta which was blue and black before this and not a LAncia LAmbda. As far as i know the Lancia Di lambda came with a 4l V8 engine with a bore and stroke of 79.37 mm × 100.00 mm respectively. Doesn't seem to be a square engine.

Did this car come from Bangalore? MYS Registration if I am right. If it is the same car I will give some history on the previous owners.

Its a Lancia DiLambda.

Extract from Wikipedia
The Lancia Dilambda is a passenger car produced by Lancia between 1928 and 1935. The car was officially presented in Paris Motor Show in 1929. The car has 4 litre V8 engine with 24 degree V angle.

Three versions of the Dilambda were built:
First series, produced between 1928 and 1931, total 1,104 built.
Second series, produced between 1931 and 1933, total 300 built. Modified gearbox and brakes.
Third series, produced between 1933 and 1935, total 281 built. Modified chassis for more aerodynamic style, it was built only with long wheelbase.

Next car... Morgan

If only all were speaking of the same car.
There are two Lancia's involved, a Lancia Lambda from Mumbai, probably red in colour, NOT from Bangalore, this car originally came from a princely state in Bihar and now owned by a newspaper baron.(love to add to confusion. This must have left yesterday. It has a 4 cylinder engine, a very smart car indeed. Then there is a Lancia Dilambda, this we saw on tbhp in blue and black around the time when the green car's wheels were discussed. This car has turned out very nice, only there is a problem with the wheels. Just imagine if this car had nice chromed spoke wheels. Is the body of this by Viotti?

Cheers harit

Here's some photos taken in Kolkata at The Tolly Car Show three years ago.
I think that Sanjay Ghose had restored it about 5-6 years ago. Big Brut of a car,
must drive like a tank.

It's new colours certainly have changed it's "personality". Would be interested to know what work has been done on it recently and what sort of milage has it been drive since first restored here in Calcutta.

Yes they are two different cars.

Lancia's are not so common, so I initially mistook it for the same one.

Anyway here are pics of the Morgan and Avon Sports

Will comment on the entries later. Here is an old photo of the Standard Avon, one of the rare, exclusive and valuable cars of India most worthy for Cartiers to justify the cost of transportation from Mumbai, albeit via Kolkata.
It is an old picture, the rally was by IARC, and at that time you could still see Arabs visiting Mumbai. The car was owner by a Sardar at that time.
And see the skyline, relatively uncluttered.

Cheers harit
