Lovely pictures. Like you said, the attention to detail is staggering. It seems he has each and every part from the actual full size wagen, put together in this scale model. Hats off to all the hard work Mr.Ahmed did to bring it to life.

Superb stuff. Great workmanship. Does the engine fire up? (sorry if that sounds stupid).

Yes. Look at the pictures of the engine assembly on the workshop bench, the flywheel is rotating.

He is one of a kind master craftsman. I came to know fo him through Anjan Da. The beauty of his creations is that they are all working examples.

He also has done up scale steam locomotives that even carry load i.e. passengers. More pictures are there on his website link.

Great Rush. This masterpeice of a creation by Iqbalbhai deserves a new thread. The Benz 1886 was revealed for the first time on 29/01/2011,the 125th anniversary of the patenting of the first motor car.Indeed an official from Mercedes Benz India was present on the occasion. Also a new Mercedes Benz showroom was inaugurated a few weeks ago at Nagpur, where the top Mercedes Benz India officials were present. The Benz 1886 was displayed and received quite a good attention. This CIVAA thread has some information about the 1886 Benz scale model that was unveiled on 29/01/2011.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/vintag...-events-2.html (Central India Vintage Automotive Association (CIVAA) - News and Events)

Was reading about the Benz original creation in 1886. Karl Benz had to face many argumentative people in his hometown Mannheim, when he was making this car.The car would suffer breakdowns anywhere in the town and folks told him to go back to the proven horse driven carriages.A frustrated Karl parked the car for months but had applied for a patent on 29/01/1886.
In August 1888, Bertha wife of Karl (she had struggled while Karl was making this car and hence had knowledge about such machines), suddenly disappeared with her two sons Eugene and Richard, both teenagers. They all went to Bertha's maternal home in Pforzheim without Karl's knowledge. While negotiating uphill and downhill roads the children sometimes with their mother get down and would either push or retard the speed respectively, as the engine was underpowered and the brakes not very effective. The car was refueled at a pharmacy en route. They reached their destination by the same evening (95 kms). The fuel pipe had lots of impurities which Bertha cleaned with her hat pin. To make the brakes more effective Bertha appended leather pads with help from a shoemaker to the brakes. The third day they began their homeward journey and had successfully covered the total distance of 194 kms.
Hence the first ever drive of an automobile was by a lady.
