Default VW Beetle Restored

Hi guys,

Its raining Beetles in Bangalore Beetle Club.

Here one more to the club.

Car : VW Beetle LHD
Year: 1967
Engine: 1500
Documents: All upto date.

This car was picked up in a extremely bad shape.

Restored at the Same place where Pavan Kadam's Beetle was done.

No metal paste used, body filler substituted for the body work.

Restoration period of 1 yr and yes it was a pricey affair,

A lot of detailing was done on the Body works as most of the parts were rusted and lost shape.

Floor area is 85% new.

All the fenders/ bonnet. dickey and even the doors were worked on to near perfection.

Engine was done up with all spares from Midamerica Motorworks.

And yes the same mechanic Aanji worked on it.

The shields are making some noise, would get them rectified some time soon.

New electrical wiring harness on the car, and the delco given way to CDI unit from contessa, this was done to avoid any unforseen breakdown due to electrical problems.

Custom paint and custom interiors. Camel color used and the sticthing is also good and average quality.

The car is running fine and looks stunning.

These pics are taken when the car was on its trial run.

The paint is an average job done using dupont.I feel the painter could have done much better.

This metallic shade preferred as it's got some depth in it.

All original hub caps on the car.

All original body trims put on the car.

There are only 2 drawbacks on the car which i am trying to overcome.

1) Rear Windshield--sourced and will come in a weeks time
2) Tail light lens ---Out of stock and will replace once available.

A new entry into the Bangalore Beetle Club after my Strecth VW.

The restoration was kept simple and upto the point.

Cannot figure out how to find parking for this Beauty at Home.

Hey! Thats a well restored beetle you have there "brat". So you planning to upgrade the wheels to alloys or keep the same as in the pics. Still its cute and nice pics there and so the beetle count in Bangy is around 25 i suppose with this new entrant.

Thanks MAVRICK,

Planning to keep it stock as of now.

Car's been used for some time now

Alloys and new tyres may come later.

As i mentioned earlier, i planned the restoration simple and upto the point.

Also thinking of giving it off sometime later.

Too many Beetles at home already.

Kadam,

There's already 2 Point Original VW Beetle and the VW Strecth at home with all other cars.

The cars running so fine, i am in two minds weather to give it away or not.

I feel its time i give this one,

There are quite a lot of offers at hand, lets see who settles them.

Awesome job brat!!!! This requires a hell lot of dedication, determination and money. Do you mind telling us how much you spent for restoring it?

Thank you,

How much i spent?

This question is very subjective.

There's other factors apart from money that i see during this project.

On the whole, only the restoration process costed around 1 lac.

This apart from spares. chrome, electricals and actual value of the car when bought.

I still havent calculated to total costing involved.

But satisfied at the end of the day that its done finally.

Man! out of the 25 in bangy, i guess you, Pavan and Naren own quite a number of beetles . Great going dudes and i like the enthu in you guys.

Do you guys share the same enthu while doing mods on the current lot of lancers, accents, zens etc in your households or you just take care of these beetles alone .

VJ-M,

The enthu spreads evenly on all cars at home.

The whole kick up is on Automobiles and not only about the Beetle.

Yes Beetles have a very special place in our hearts as well as our garage.

They are like the younger kids at home who are pampered.

The rims are different on the rear and the front. Also the seats are not in the original style of stitching also the same with the colour shade but I dont think that originality was what your friend was looking for in the restoration. The cars looking good and am sure it works fine. Great restoration

Raghavendra,
I just noticed that your bug also has this mixed up wheels combination. Perhaps you guys could swap and each end up with a matched set...

Brat,
Good job in getting another one back on the road. Did u happen to reinstall the rear z-bar?
